2 runs for 5 innings is OK I guess, for 5th starter, but with those numbers not spending 8.5 Million, to kill my BP. 4 BB's in 5 innings will eventually bite you in the ass.

0-3 for Kinsler with RISP.

OK? OK? Your standards for Pomeranz need recalibration. For him 2 runs in 5 innings are an unmitigated triumph and cause for wild celebrations lasting well into the early morning. And those four BB's were just smart baseball and helped the Great One avoid those troublesome dingers.

Who would rather you rather have Johnson or Pomeranz? About the same, in fact Johnson better, and cheaper.

4 walks, 4 hits, 2HBP in 5IP is not very good. Clearly this is sarcasm. He's meat the next time he pitches

Sarcasm? You think?

With Sale, E-Rod and Wright on the DL, we need BOTH Johnson and Pomeranz - like it or lump it.

Need them for starts got you. Wins another story.

Pom was not the problem in last night's game. He did not pitch well, but he limited the damage and kept the team in the game. I think that if we would have been told before the game that Pom would go 5 innings and only give up 2 runs, we'd take it.

The pen has been solid.

Our offense needs to get it going. They've been in somewhat of a funk since the All Star break, scoring 3.8 runs/game. That includes one game where they scored 9 runs and another game where they scored 10. It also includes 2 extra innings games.

His payroll has no bearing on how well he performs. At this point, it's not relevant to any argument except for if they should try to sign him next year.

True. But also a nightmare.

If Pom went 9 innings and gave up only 2 runs, they still would have lost. He wasn't the problem.

But he easily could have been the problem--5 IP, 4 BB, and 2 HB usually leads to disaster and more than 2 ER.

It was another terrible start, but maybe he is a little closer to where he needs to be? I suppose we will find out in subsequent starts.

Look, he wasn't great, but he was better than he has been. The GameScore he got was 50, which was a perfectly average start. I hope he gets better because that's what would be best for the Sox.

I'm not a huge Pomeranz fan or anything and I wouldn't sign him to come back next year.
