Oh my God look at those stands. I know the weather is bad. But Holy Cow.

There were those years in the early and mid-60s when black and white TV telecasts were just lighting up. We often refer to them fondly as "the Horace Clark years". They were the years after the great Yankee team years when the league had really just been a farm team for the MFY's. Then came the Horace Clark years and they were pitiful. If the Yankees were pitiful at that time you can imagine what everybody else was. If you were a kid then and did not have the experience of the glory years of baseball you could easily convince yourself that nobody really went to baseball games. "Everybody must be watching on TV" because there was nobody in the ballparks and you loved baseball. So the gate can't be a reflection on the game. Everybody must love baseball. In truth it was a very very bad time and almost killed MLB. Average attendance around 10k fans. So you can just imagine what some of those parks looked like if the average across everybody and every game was 10k! some of those games struggled to get 3k people in the gate.

The Orioles always have attendance issues. Baltimore is a s*** hole, the team is horrendous and tonight the weather is awful. If I was an Orioles fan I wouldn't want to waste my money either.

POM's velocity hasn't improved, but the revs on his curveball certainly have.

Imagine if the guy could throw 94 and with that curveball?

And Pomeranz didn't fall into a first inning ditch. Curve ball was spinning rapidly. Good for him. Wash, rinse, repeat

This team is a real enigma. I wonder if the O's as a team have just not adapted to this launch angle baseball. They are definitely trying it and they are definitely failing.

Just starting pouring absurdly hard at my house. This rain is headed towards Baltimore... So I wouldn't be surprised if we get a delay somewhat soon.

If I was batting against POM, I would move up towards the front of the batter's box.

The O's are so oblivious I think they are not sure if they are even in the batters box.

Will outlawing the shift bring back ball contact baseball. Too many strikeouts are not fun.

Yeah the launching angle swing is killing Davis and many other hitters. maybe Sanchez too

I can place the teams chock full of old broken down players....Like the Jays and there are the teams that are too young for their own good (don't tell anybody but the Yankees are one of those). But I can't place this O's team for its record and its players. They have some broken down old bodies but not enough to say its that. They are putting their guys out on the field and they don't seem all that broken down yet. They just...... I don't know what!!

Outlawing the shift would be ridiculously stupid. Chris Davis sucks ass regardless of a shift or not.

During Wilt's dominance in the NBA, the powers that be banned the dunk. The ban only lasted a year.

The shift won’t be “outlawed” but they’ll change the rules in terms of alignment to some degree. I’ve heard all 4 infielders must have their feet in the dirt when the ball is pitched. The other is two players must be on both sides of second base. They could still shift, but it’ll be limited to some degree.

They’re the worst team in all of professional baseball, major and minor leagues by win percentage. And that was with Machado

I would simply do away with the advance shift. That is easily enough done. Its the advanced shift that is an abomination.

Even that I don't think they should do. Every team can shift, and it isn't an unfair advantage, I really don't see an issue with it, and this is coming from someone who has seen a lot of hits taken away from guys like Ortiz over the years.

It's Showalter's karma that is killing them.
