What do you think this crowd of web site brain surgeons would have been posting if Pillar simply pulled up on a ball that dropped and gracefully tossed the ball to 3rd base for the out on Lin. If he started to pull up the base runners might have been hung out to dry, but it would have been one out not 2. Playing it a third of the way was the right play, imo.

They are in love with this guy and are stubbornly holding onto him when he has no role. He didn't look bad behind the plate in his last game, but the jury is still out. We will see what happens when teams make him throw the ball.
