What are you doing there Lin? That isn't even aggressiveness, that was just dumb.

That’s a guy who doesn’t know his outfielders. Pillar makes those types of catches a lot

Can you rememeber Mookie not having a good at bat or not hitting the ball hard?

Yes but it’s been a while; maybe the trip right after he came off the DL?

Well I think Lin was stuck. There was a man on 1st right. So if the ball drops where is Mookie supposed to go with Holt running to 1st.

You force the throw to 3rd or 1st.

Even playing that half way if Pillar keeps his feet and that ball drops, Lin is out at 3rd by a mile. Lin had no choice with Mookie coming from First and Holt running to 1st. Just baseball.

He's hitting missiles. Very Trout like.

Both are great low ball hitter. But I think Mookie has the edge at hitting now. He strike out a lot less.

Yup. Pillar is outstanding. You have to be 100% sure the ball is uncatchable with him out there.

You guys want Lin to bank on Pillar making a play he just hurt himself making. Good grief.
Play it about a third of the way down the line. It turned out to be a bad read.

Do you watch Kevin Pillar? He is one of the elite outfielders in the league, and with one out, Lin ran, and was rounding 3rd when Pillar caught the ball. Yes, it was stupid.. and especially with JD Martinez on deck.. who hit a bomb to lead off the next inning to extend his mlb lead in homers and RBI..

Three run homers are much nicer.

IMO Holt shouldn’t hit in the second slot. He’s a rally killer. I’d rather put Xander or Nuñez there. Edited by iortiz

He just hurt himself making that play. Bad read...I can take that one. Stupid baseball play.... Sorry NOT. Rookie play...nope can't take that one either. Its just baseball. Every once and while, like maybe once a game at least, you get plays that are just baseball. Did you see that flip throw from Pillar? Do you realize how close Pillar has to be to just flip it like that? Do you actually think a third of the way down the line would have made for a different outcome? A third of the way down the line and Pillar is rolling the ball to 3rd to get Lin out if that ball drops.

ITS JUST BASEBALL.

At 30 feet away, if Lin starts leaning back toward 2nd when he goes into his tumble and starts running back to 2nd as his is in his tumble, I think he gets back to 2nd in about 1 1/2 seconds or less. By the time Millar regains his feet to make that flip, Lin is probable diving in safely, imo.

You force the longer throw. He either has to tag Lin out at 3rd, or throw to 1st to Double Mookie. Cant get Double up on a flip throw. That's all you can do. Edited by OH FOY!

Do you know one way to tell when a play is just baseball? What do you think this crowd of web site brain surgeons would have been posting if Pillar simply pulled up on a ball that dropped and gracefully tossed the ball to 3rd base for the out on Lin. What the heck do you think this web site would have been posting?

True. But last night and today, he's at the top of being a thorn on the Sox side.

Pillar’s the kind of player you hate when he’s on the other team and love when he’s on yours.
