I believe Cora ascribes to the 'not over-managing' philosophy. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

On second thought, it is a 3 man bench (Holt, Swihart, Bradley). Cora has to keep Swihart as the back up catcher. There is no way to predict what else may happen and if he drained the bench and the went extras or had another injury, he could be caught short a player. That's the issue witha 13 man pitching staff due to having at least 2 starters who cannot go more than 5+

He gets the job done but it's never pretty. Once again he threw too many pitches, too much nibbling.

 

However... I sometimes wonder if our expectations for ERod are too high. He's giving us a chance to win every game he pitches in. Sure, he taxes the bull pen but the good news is that the pen is up to it and we come away with a win.

 

Are we asking too much? Shouldn't we be happy with a guy who's got 10 (maybe 11) wins?
