I guess Kelly wasn't available tonight. The bridge to Kimbrel is very creaky when Kelly is not involved. In fact, there hardly is a bridge.

It’s a problem with the modern game; you trot out a different reliever each inning, you are taking a chance that it one of them doesn’t have it on a given night.

Throwing flat FB's even at 98 is really hoping lady luck is favoring you. Barnes would not even attempt any other pitch after that K pitch and the 4 pitch walk. I just hope we don't get some injury report on him after this stint because he was not right, even for Barnes he was not right.

Barnes is useless in high leverage situations. He couldn’t even hold the bottom of their L-up.

barnes always sucks in pressure situations, sure he can have a nice era when hes facing 7-8-9 hitters in a 7-2 game in the 8th, but anytime its close or a big situation, he chokes. hes a bum, so is hembree.

Barnes numbers this year (before tonight)

OPS against 2018

.701 Lat & Close

.533 High Leverage

.544 2 outs & RISP

.449 8th inning (best inning)

.250 Tie game

Career OPS against .715

,685 Late & Close

2017 OPS against .655

.628 Late & Close (.603 8th inning)

Pen choked it up tonight. Hope barnes is OK. Wish I knew if he stayed in the dugout or went down the tunnel when he came in from the mound.

That loss stings because they had the Mariner's ace beat, then watched the Hembree and Barnes cough it up, and not one clutch hitter the equal of Denard F'ing Span. And , of course, the relentless Yankees shutout the sucking TB Rays.

Barnes was throwing 98 so I doubt there's any physical problem. Like someone earlier mentioned, 98 with no movement has a name in baseball. It's called batting practice.

I think the Span hit was the only breaking ball Barnes threw after the walk.

Moreland is a .250 batter. No one s/b surprised with his regression.

Mitch is definitely slumping and it is hurting now

This offense though is in a funk. They're so streaky.

We hit the ball very hard and saw some great defense against us.

A little luck and this game was ours.

This M's team is as good a team as we have seen lately....pretty close to the Astros. Like I said earlier, if we split I will be happy with that. Was living in the glory of possibly getting two wins out of the first two games. Just wasn't to be.

Workman might have to start showing Cora something with the number of games we have to play coming up.
