At least the Sox were forced (I hope) to prove to themselves that they can't afford to keep swi on this team. You are in trouble when the 25th guy is so useless that it ripples through the rest of the team. They can't get devers out of the lineup and he clearly needs a couple of days. He can't even catch up to FB's anymore. Yet they are forced to play him.

What an embarrrassing night. Is Cora starting to look like Farrell? Gonna be 3 games out in the loss column barring a comeback.

Swihart is not the answer to anything.

Swihart has had a total of 60 PAs before this game. Very small sample size. I admit that he hasn't looked good, but I am not going to give up on him just yet. Lets see how he does after 150-200PAs. JBJ on the other hand has sucked for a very long time. Its time to get rid of him. And Devers has to go back down to iron out his issues too, once Pedroia comes back-if he comes back.

Btw, JD told Cora he wanted to play tonight. Cora told him it's your day of rest.

Coma giving out mandatory days of rests to star players on Sale starts would piss me off if I was Sale. Give JD off when Beeks is pitching not when Sale pitches.

If the injuries continue, the best we can hope for is a Play-in game... hopefully at home. These are two games the Yanks would not cave to.

This is kinda the post of the night .

JBJ, SWI, DEVERS are not hitters, they're batters.

In fairness to Devers, this is his learning year. It's only natural that he'd struggle early in his pro career. I would like to see him phased out however as the season progresses with a more polished, veteran hitter.

Tell me what you envision as his evenorole for the Boston Red Sox. If Bradley turns around his hitting, he is the CFer. What is Swihart on this team?

Sometimes it’s difficult to take this team serious when they’re losing to one of the worse mlb teams.

Just horrible.

Devers is very young and very talented. Swihart is neither.

Problem is, we have too many young hitters trying to find their way all at once. Ideally, you'd have just one batting ninth.

Fred I've carried this kids water for aloooooong time.....60 at bats is tiny but the guy just looks aloof with no strategy and I'm like his only fan here .

If he can hit he is my starting catcher

They are going to play swihart where? THEY don't have any confidence in him. Hanley had to go for a variety of team and financial reasons. Swihart is not still on this team because anybody in management has any confidence in him. So it does not really matter what we might think of him. He is just taking up space and not more than that and when he does play he doesn't do anything. Pedey comes back and gets 2nd base. We want to compel Nunez to 3rd everyday? I don't think we are going to like the looks of that.

I am not a fan of his...I just think he hasn't been given a chance. If he sucks after about 150 PAs or so, DFA him

Good point ... So times run out on Swihart 60 at bats...we may have to pull the plug very soon .

Devers is hitting under 230. That’s terrible! Bradley Jr is horrible as well. Our lineup is filled with players not getting the job done consistently.
