I would have sent Beni to avoid that...or at least try to avoid that.

No, no, no. It's an article of faith by some on talksox that Beni is both the dumbest and the worst baserunner on this team. He is constantly being chastised for doing anything besides advancing cautiously to the next base.

This is not a World Series caliber team ...Why the hell cant they cut bait with the catchers ??? Just maybe they have something to do with the failure of some of these pitchers ???? Time to wake the hell up !!! Vaz and Sandy and JBJ and Pom and Erod suuuuuuuuuck they are too short handed now to replace them all so cut freaking bait and start dealing now !!! It's very obvious this team not only will not win the division they will regress badly if changes are not made immedietly.

Manley Ramirez, on the other hand, gets the booby prize.

Let's hear again from the advocates who believe that, with men on 1b and 3b with 1 out, the smart play by Manny was to strike out. The rally would still be alive if he had played it smart. And, yes, that was said on a game thread the other night.

Wut?

I would not be letting go the anchor chain letting the anchor go straight through the keel just yet. But some issues that have been festering have gotten full blown exposed now and they are going to have to look at them honestly and decide what to do.

It's true. Someone actually said that, had Bradley been the batter in this one game, he would have struck out and kept the rally going. I don't remember who the guy was that hit into the GIDP. I kept saying you never want a batter to strike out because you fear the GIDP, but made no headway.

Well, it took about 20 minutes to find Pomeranze's replacement next week!

He looked terrible last time and like magic tonight.

That is absolutely astonishing that he barely made it to 3b from 1b on a clean double. Not a good baserunner, period. But of course he did make it all the way home from 3b on the single. There's that.

It was a line drive near the left fielder; Nunez held up to make sure it wasn't caught, Vaz probably had to hesitate as well.

What did you think of Wright;s performance last inning?

I am astounded, but it's real. The knuckler is definitely working.

Oh for Chrissake! NOBODY said it was the smart thing to do. What was said was that a K is better than the DP.

Didn't look near the left fielder to me. I'll check the replay when it shows up on the game videos. You could be right.

The full context was that, had JBJ been in the game, he would have struck out and that would have kept the rally alive. I consider that to be an absurdity and the worse kind of 20-20 hindsight. And it was said to advance the argument that JBJ should continue to be the starting centerfielder.

Meanwhile, in YankeeLand, CC is laying an egg just like Pom....its 3-0 after 3 in KC.

Maybe the Sox have problems with their rotation, but so do the Yankees

Bradley leads off next inning.....Cora really has to PH for him. There is nearly no chance of him getting on base.

!!!!!!!!

Calm the 'f' down there Dewey!

You are being far too logical, and far too little demagogic!

Sadly, something to remember is that, with that at bat, the Sox remain the worst pinch-hitting team in MLB this year--1 for 19.

Holt watches too many 3rd strikes tho

My impression is he doesn't. Usually, he is the mostly likely to take the first pitch and maybe even a 2d strike, but he usually defends the plate/zone with 2 strikes. It was just a smart pitch by Cobb.
