- Sale's slider is nothing like it was last year at least so far

- Pom is either hurt or we are stuck now forever watching him blow the first 3 innings of every game. In any event something is wrong with him. Funny how we klll some guys for having rough 1st innings and Pom is now stringing the first 3 innings from hell together without much notice

- Price has been sub-par to average for most of his Sox career no matter who is behind the plate. Just not the monster we were expecting I guess

- Eddie is a head case that last time out could not even throw two FB's in a row with the same motion, same arm angle and to the location desired

- Porcello for all of the guff he has taken round these parts is the best starter we have right now and its not even close

So I would be very very hesitant to blame the catchers for what are obvious mechanical problems with the actual pitches in the arsenals of our starters at this particular time

This is the ugliest game we have played in the season.

We are going to win this series, though.

Devers is on a pace for 35-40 errors.

Wonder whether this can be contained. Also wonder whether Cora is addressing this issue somehow, because last time I watched him talking about Dever’s D, he said he was going to be oks. It’s not even close to be oks.

I'm not worried about Devers. He's young and a great athlete--he can learn to be better defensively by working on it. Not sure, alas, that applies to hitting. The bigger problem is thus CF.

Definitely, we're already deep into the first week of May, time to blow some s*** up.

Seriously, I've been trying to ignore you and let everyone else point out the tiresome negativity, but you are honestly just the worst. I just spent fifteen minutes going through your posts and I only found a handful that weren't complaints or didn't include the word "suck" in some way or another.

The Sox losing isn't fun for any of us, but you manage to drain away the small amount of fun left to us in those games: Commiserating with each other over it in the GT. Your negative posts even manage to frustrate everyone in GTs of games the Sox have actually won. Enough already. Everyone complains when the Sox aren't doing well, but you've done the complaining of any ten other fans I've ever known. You don't have to react like the sky is falling with every swing and miss or defensive error. Chill out.

Agree entirely. But he and a couple of others who throw around sexist and homophobic language as if they were bad-ass kids on a middle school playground don't bother me, thanks to the 'block' function.

He is not a great athlete. He’s a big ox capable of hammering baseballs and butchering defense. He’s going to be a great hitter. He just won’t be a 3b for much longer. He’s awful over there

OMG! We disagree. The sky will fall. Perhaps the best way to put it is that the chances that Devers' D will improve are much better than the chances that JBJ will become a decent and consistent hitter. But of course, by any ordinary definition, JBJ is the better athlete.

Devers has the body type of someone who will get bigger quickly. He’s got a real thick lower half which typically entails he’ll get slower faster than most. He already isn’t a good defender and as his speed drops, you think he’ll improve? He’ll be a .300/30HR/.850+OPS hitter long term but he’ll follow he Cabrera career path and move to 1b

If your prediction of his hitting career is correct, I'm more than happy to lose this argument!

And this isn’t because I don’t think his mechanics cannot improve. I’m sure they can, but he will rapidly lose agility as he fills out. He’ll become a statue about the time his mechanics are improved.

This contrasts to the Yankee counterpart. Andujar has similar mechanical issues, but he’s got an athletic body type and is faster than Devers. He will age better at the position.

I’ve been saying this for the last few days that Porcello has been our most consistent best pitcher. Not even mad about that as he was MLB’s best 2 years ago so I am glad he found his groove. Very concerning that Poms has been playing the way he is. Seems to eventually settle down but it’s too late once he blows the first couple innings. Sale will be fine. I honestly have no worries about him. Price is scaring me. Played awesome in the playoffs last season and started this season fantastic but man has he been inconsistent lately. Maybe that injury is bothering him more than he cares to admit?

He’s only 21 and is a viable middle of the order hitter on a playoff team. He’s gonna be a hell of a hitter. He will not be a good 3b

This coming from the guy who put a deposit on a HOF plaque for Jesus Montero... SMDH
