Call it over confidence but there should be no reason we drop this series. I don't know how we will win whether its from great pitching or great offense or both but this should be a pretty easy win in my opinion. Fister is still wildy inconsistent though and you never know what you will get with him. Behind Porcello and E-Rod there should be no reason what so ever to drop these games to Cinci.

Good for you--tonight your confidence was completely justified despite the first inning. The Sox played tough the rest of the game and scored 4 big ones in the 4th to win 5-4. Great bullpen tonight led by Price.

My favorite team in Japan was the Yakult Swallows........ there were one of two teams that were based in Tokyo. You could get tickets for about 10 bucks........ they were a horrible team.....

Since OB and Gnomes is talking about Japan Baseball...... brings back memories..

That's cool.

We have one member MSBULLDOGS who spent the summer touring Japan back about 7 years ago. He went to many baseball games and took tons of funny pictures.

Really a well played game all around. The 4 run rally in the 4th came from great hitting, not a bunch of walks. Some nice plays including the tag by Bogaerts on the overslide at 2b and the neat double play to end the game--very smart start to it by Moreland.

Note to moonslav: did you notice how the distributed lineup did not hurt at all and just maybe did some good? I'm not saying Devers should never move up, only that he can do damage batting 7th.

I won't lie I was losing confidence after that first inning. Porcello. I'm not sure what to say or feel about him right now. He should be kissing the bullpen and offense right now. TOtally bailed him out.

I'm done with him.

Thanks Spud...... let me reminisce for a bit. I didn't know Gomes played in Japan until they were talking about it tonight.

I lived in Tokyo for a bunch of years. Tokyo is the home to two teams. The famous and best team in the J-League the Tokyo Giants who are pretty much the Yankees and have all allstars on their team. Duchebags like Matsui was on that team, Tokyo also has the the super sad and never win Yakult Swallows. So for a couple of seasons I followed the Swallows, the tickets were cheap, they had a small and beautiful non-domed park in the middle of Tokyo. And the right field bleachers had cheering squads that were dedicated and had complex cheers for every player................ they were horrible....... but they were my team when I was in Tokyo.............

So on a date with my now wife who actually liked baseball before I met her........ I splurged and bought tickets to sit behind first plate. I think it was like 25 bucks. And other than the bleacher seats, no Japanese fan at the games say a word. They don't give the players crap at all. And I'm a bit fired up..... cause I really like this sad ass Swallows team. And the opposing team has this white dude at bat, who has looked like a chump the last couple at bats. And the Swallow pitcher throws a bender which the white dude hitter misses by a mile, almost comical like how bad the swing was. And I yell something like....... "Nice Swing Guy". Which anyone yelling behind homeplate must have seemed extremely odd and maybe a bit disrespectful to the other fans that sat behind the plate around us. As Japanese people just don't do that stuff, it's not in their culture. I felt a bit uncomfortable afterward, but I'm like f*** it......... the white dude gets it. And the very next pitch......... BAMM......... the white dude crushes a homerun and look back in the area I was sitting............ almost like I gave him the strength to hit that

and I just slunk way back in my seat................

Porcellini rides the pine in the playoffs....... I'd rather go E-Rod as the third starter... and let the bullpen help him out.

Nice win.

Porcello is my 5th starter right now. I'm actually close to feeling more confidence in handing Price the ball in game 4 of the playoffs than Porcello or Fister. We gotta hope our big 3 (Sale, Pom & ERod) get us to at least a 2-1 lead.

I'd still like to see Devers bat 4th or 5th, but I have no big beef with the line-ups lately.

Loved seeing the Yanks get bombed.

With the win tonight, that breaks the record for longest win streak ever under my mojo, surpassing the previous high of 3, which occurred in June of this year against the Phillies.

Never thought I would hear myself say this especially at the beginning of the year. But Porcello makes me the most nervous on our rotation in a playoff game. Faaaaaaak. Dude is having such an off year :( can't afford his suckage come playoff time.

I am probably the biggest Porcello supporter here, and even I don't have confidence in him starting a playoff game right now. He has been so inconsistent. He could could be lights out like he was in his last outing, or he could be total crap. That said, he did settle down nicely after the first inning.
