Meh. It's a blessing. Out of the inning with a 6-1 lead on no injuries in the rain. yes, JBJ forgot there was just one out when that fly was dropped and that he could therefore still be forced out at 3b for the last out. I don't care. Really.

Agree that it's a blessing. But I don't think JBJ thought there were two outs, if so, he would have been running. He was as confused as most of us here (although many of the more confused posters are obscuring that with their sanctimonious invective). It was just a bizarre play on a bizarre night.

I was about to name Fister as the third starter until I saw the Jays lineup. Wow, what the f*** happened?
The sat out a lot of their players after last night's 19 inning game.

That makes sense. Looks like the Syracuse Chiefs lineup.

Butterfield was doing nothing. he should have been yelling to Bradley to come to 3rd. As usual, he stood there with his hands t his sides looking confused.... but his workout charts for next spring training are already done and he will be the first one at the field in Ft. Myers.

LOL! You really made me laugh Ted.

Well we all can't be f***ing geniuses like you stud.

We are just too busy being dimwitted sexist racists.

Jerk.

It really bothers you, apparently, not to have occasion to call anyone a c*t or a tw*t.

Automated zone needs to be the main topic at the Winter Meetings. They have to take the game out of the umpires' hands.

I agree but we both know it won't happen.

There was no confusion on my part. I knew that the bases were loaded and there was one out. I understood the force play at home, but I couldn't grasp that Bradley hadn't run to 3rd in all that time. They cut to commercial quickly and didn't show the replay until they came back from commercial.

I seriously think we need a little better sense of proportion here. Yes, JBJ and Leon were both slow to react to that dropped fly to LF. If anything, however, they should have been guarding against being doubled off the bases they were on when it was surely going to be caught.

As for JBJ, my gosh, he got that huge 3 run dinger in the 4th which basically put the game out of reach. Last night he made an absolutely unreal throw to home to double up Bautista and beyond question save that game (along with the bullpen of course)

We did not need any more runs when he was out for not advancing to 3b. This is another huge win after that debacle against the Yankees and the ignominy of the cheating scandal being revealed.

If there was one game and one play we should be completely willing to overlook our players (and 3b coach) inattention, this was surely it. Enough with the "these boneheads are clueless crap." At least tonight, anyway.

He didn't say JBJ is a terrible player. He just said he made a stupid baserunning error. No need for a three paragraph rebuttal about the merits of JBJ's week.

He's a great player, but not beyond criticism. By the time that ball had been picked up and thrown home and the catcher leisurely looked for home plate to step on, any one who was awake could have walked to 3rd base. He was still heading back toward 2nd and looking confused that Nunez was standing there. It was a major brain fart.

Seriously, why does he think that every critique of a play has to be taken in context with the guy's full game, week, month or career or whatever context Max thinks is relevant.

Excuse me, but I was in no way, shape, or form suggesting that anyone was saying JBJ is a terrible player because nobody here thinks that. I was saying why I just don't care about "stupid baserunning error" when this has been such a great night due in no small way to JBJ's 3 run dinger. I'm saying let's have a sense of proportion here.

Not at all.

I don't recall having called anyone a **** on Talksox. However if the OB fits insert it buddy.

Meanwhile I am enjoying all the sanctimonious invective.

With care, because it's emblematic of the baserunning issues they've had all year. Can't be this dumb in the playoffs.

Exactly.

And if that play had happened in a close game with the Sox down and struggling to score runs most everyone would be bitching about it being yet another example of dumb ass base running by the Sox.

But as usual someone on Talksox has to stroke their ego by belittling another person for just making an observation and stating their opinion.

Fine. You want to make a big deal about that and re-establish that JBJ is a bonehead (even though a great player), you are entitled. I just disagree because I seriously don't care what he did on that play. Feel free to come back at me hard when JBJ does something like that when it makes a difference. Heck, if anything, I was glad for the 3d out so this game will end sooner because, thanks to JBJ, it is in the bag. FWIW, we just won 6-1, and I could not be happier.

Sense of proportion. People are talking about the whole season not just one play, and by the whole squad, not just JBJ.

Hey, feel free to beat my brains out when and if this happens in the playoffs and it costs us a game. Do I have license to do something similar if it doesn't happen? Don't you think that, given our ups and downs this season with our pitching and especially our hitting, those are far more likely to be the cause of our going down? I honestly think the odds are about 100 to 1 in my favor.

Max, you are missing the point the way Bogey misses the slider -- by a mile. Read the posts of some of the other posters who are not missing the point. I am not condemning Bradley as a "bonehead". I am making a comment about the season long terrible base running decisions by the entire team, and I am for the upteenth time laying it at the feet of the coaching staff. Bradley is not a bonehead. That would be Benintendi. ;)

Sense of proportion Max. No one is beating your brains out. Get a grip on that bitter bald angry head of yours. LOL!!

Setting the bar awfully low, no?
