East Coast rain-outs are particularly frustrating for West Coast teams (which rarely have rain-outs).

Despite its reputation, Seattle averaged 7.99 inches of precipitation for the six months from April through September while Boston averages 21.11 inches over the same period. Safeco Field's retractable roof is overused.

The average precipitation is closer in October when Seattle averages 3.27 inches and Boston 3.94 inches.

Of course the Mariners rarely play October baseball.:o

I could be wrong but I think our Atlantic weather is a little more difficult to predict. 'Noreasters' and hurricanes for example are notoriously subject to changing course.

OK. I'll bite. Hurricane prediction is extremely good (well, compared to the 50s, say), and it should be exactly the same in the Atlantic as in the Pacific (the difference is only that because of the E to W movement, the west coast is rarely affected by them).

(I'm only arguing because the game is postponed and there's nothing else to do)

I was only guessing so I'll just bow out gracefully.

This game is postponed until August 14.

Why would they wait that long to cancel the game? Seems like a s*** thing to do to the fans at the game.

Totally correct. They can see the weather map as well as we can, probably better. Why make the fans wait over two hours before calling it-especially since the Yankees already lost :P

East coast bias! 😜

There is no accountability or discipline.

High priced and low production out of many spots. Especially the area where they actually "predict" the weather.......

it's what happens when you get saddled with these type of contracts..

Blow it up....

On the topic of rain delays and how they're handled by the decision-makers, the Yankees game yesterday was a major debacle. The start of the game was delayed about 90 minutes even though it hadn't started raining yet, and as it turned out if they had started on time they would have gotten it in on time. Instead it wasn't over until 7.5 hours after the scheduled start. :D
