Just announced on Giants broadcast he was lifted from game and traded to Boston.

No word who we gave up yet.

Hopefully not too much. He isn't very good.

Plus he's a rental. I'm not really high on Nunez in general, his defense sucks regardless of position, and he seems to make a lot of "questionable" plays, so if we gave up anything of value I'm gonna be pissed.

Eduardo Nuñez plays amazing defense in whatever position he is placed. Red Sox are getting a great guy and player

Debatable...

Pedro also said Ruby de La Rosa was going to be an ace.

Alex Speier @alexspeier

The Red Sox are sending RHP Shaun Anderson (3.99 ERA in HiA Salem) and 17-yr-old RHP Gregory Santos (0.90 ERA in 30 IP in the DSL) to SF.

Don't really know much about either. Are the expected to be any good?

-12.9 UZR/150 at 3B career.

-8 DRS.

Just over 1800 innings at 3B.

He's worse at 2B (-30.2 UZR/150 in 145 innings.

He's played a little corner OF (322 innings +18.2 UZR/150).

Has played the most at SS (2058 innings -17.8 UZR1/50)

I think Pedro is wrong on EN.

Anderson was ranked 17th on soxprospects.com with a score of 2-5.

Career Notes: Worked out of the bullpen in college as part of incredibly deep Florida staff, serving as the closer his junior season, before transitioning to a starter as a professional. Would likely have started for most other collegiate programs. Participated in 2016 Fall Instructional League.

Summation: Tall right-hander has a four-pitch mix, solid pitcher’s frame and clean mechanics. Could move quickly in a bullpen role, but will be stretched out and developed as a starter. Lacks a true plus offering, but could have several average-to-better offerings. Strong command profile and pitchability. Ceiling of a back-end starter who relies on mixing pitches and being around the zone because of lack of true out pitch.

Santos was not ranked in the top 60 prospects.

I'm expecting Nunez to bat leadoff, with Betts moving to the middle of the batting order, probably clean up. Nunez doesn't have great OBP, but he makes contact and can run.

His .331 OBP is 15 points over his career .316 OBP. I don't see him leading off,

even with his speed.

His splits are pretty even over his career:

.728 vs RHPs (.328 OBP)

.706 vs LHPs (.294 OBP)

He's a first half hitter:

.756 1st

.680 2nd

His .790 away OPS is encouraging this year.

He has a SB% of about 75% over his career.

I see him more as insurance at 3B, DH, LF and maybe even SS/2B.

Meh, so not much of anything it sounds like.

The offense needs a spark and so I like Nunez leadoff while moving Betts to cleanup, thereby giving the Red Sox a much improved presence in the middle of the order.

He's a better option than Bogey, Beni or Young, so who knows?

Way better than Marrero or Holt. He'll probably play 3B against lefties, and can pinch run late in games.

He could also play SS for the slumping Bogey and LF or DH vs LHPs.

I don't love it, but Anderson probably isn't a huge loss and nobody seems to know anything about the other guy.

Hard to believe this is the only thing coming. It sounds like we'll still probably add a reliever, but a 1B type bat like Alonzo could really help this offense, too.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Sox said Bogey's hand is no good and he needs some rest, and Nunez fills in for him

That's the thing. A utility player that can run and hit a little.

Odd timing.

Very strange. It's like Trump is running the Red Sox. If you bring Devers up and pump him up to the media, you'd assume they would hold on getting his replacement for a bit more than during his debut. Nunez is a very versatile piece who provides you high average and good speed with poor defense. If he starts at third tonight for you guys, then I'm officially baffled by the direction

Doesn't confuse me at all. He provides us with an upgrade over Holt, Marrero, and Lin. He is a utility player.

dProbably starts at 3rd against lefties and plays short against righties, while Bogey takes some time t o get over whatever ails him.
