Not sure what to say about Pomeranz outing.. I guess 5 innings, 1 earned run is solid.. but it was only 5 innings, and 123 pitches? I just don't get how this guy can throw so many damn pitches.

I really don't like Farrell making him throw all those damn pitches.

He's a nibbler and he wasn't sharp tonight. It was a Dice K night without loading the bases 3 times with no outs.

Tanaka's calling card is movement and location. He has had neither for 6 weeks now. He's got an elbow that wasnt repaired. My bet is we are going to hear about it letting go this year

Lot's of 3-2 counts. 7 Ks. He only walked 2 (one on 4 pitches that looked semi-intentional to Judge). The Yankees fouled off a lot of 2 strike pitches. There were a couple of 8 pitch ABs, a 9 pitch one and a 12 pitch one. There wasn't a lot of solid contact overall by Yankee hitters. There were at least 3 infield hits and a bloop. He wasn't sharp but he hung in there.

Being good but not good enough. A couple of batters had long at-bats, fouling off a bunch of pitches. And he nibbles, which I guess is fine for a No. 4 or No. 5 starter if it means 5 IP, 1 ER as opposed to 55 pitches in four innings but 6 earned runs.

I turned off the Sox game for a moment (which I rarely do ever) to watch Scooter's AB, I turn game on and 1 pitch later he lines it into right field bleachers. That was one of the cooler things/calls I've seen live. Its not every day we get to see a 4 home run game, and its even more absurd coming from a guy like Scooter Gennett, who you don't think of as a power hitter.

Don't be wasting your good mojo on Scooter Gennet.

When you see this, it's hard to believe Big Papi never hit 3 in a game.

I was in shock when I saw the stat last season after Mookie had his 2nd three home run game of the season (lol), that Ortiz never did it, but Pedroia and MiddleBrooks did. #Baseball.
