Do the Mets have anything that could help the Sox? Because I could see a Sox lineup with Swihart in LF, Benintendi in CF, and Betts in RF. And JBJ would certainly be a nice fit for the Mets in CF. And I believe JBJ would blossom into a true All-Star in the National League.

Now the question is, what do the Mets have to offer that would get DD's attention?

IMO the Mets don't have much that they'd be willing to give up in order to get JBJ. DD likes defense and the price would be high. Really high.

He got injured and was lost for the season playing LF. A gut feeling he belongs behind the plate.

I can't see what the Mets could offer us that would entice us to trade Bradley. The only guy that I would want is Syndegard, but that is not going to happen.

I'd ask for Conforto and a minor leaguer at minimum. Whether you think 2016 is a fluke (I do - a little), a controllable quality CF is valuable, especially to the Mets who have to use Cespedes to fake it there.

If the Mets were willing to move Syndegaard or Matz or deGrom, they'd have acquired Andrew McCutchen by now. The Red Sox outfield appears set and hopefully Swihart stays out of it...

I don't see the upside for the Red Sox of swapping Bradley for Conforto.

Because there is none.

You know this better than anyone else on this board.

Now if someone in the Mets front office went into a coma or got some really good weed and would let Thor go I would jizz myself.

Of course that will not happen.

Either way this is all posturing in McCutchen talks.

How do you figure that sk?

Not being a wise-ass here. I just am not that familiar with this topic.

He is the big fish - Mets have been rumored on those discussions. According to the stuff at the winter meetings, the Pirates seem pretty intent on dealing him. (not for zero - and not a fire sale, but they know they can get the most value for him while he is not a pure rental). Obviously the Mets would have to trade their top young upside (like Conforto, Rosario) to get him and perhaps would not want to do that. But a healthy Cutch is a Top 10 player - hard not to think that is their endgame if anything.

Agreed, but McCutchen looks to maybe be in serious decline. JBJ looks to be on the rise and is a better defensive CF'er.

I'm not for trading JBJ, but I like him more than A. M right now.

McCutchen's decline:

OPS: .952> .889> .766

UZR/150: -13.7> -6.1> -23.2

WAR: 8.4> 6.8> 5.8> 0.7

JBJ: -0.3> 0.5> 2.4> 4.8

He was also very good in August/September. The question was whether his awful summer was health related or not. Let's put it this way - if he is still a 5 win player, he is worth trading for. It's an open question - but that he was a near 6 win player two seasons ago is still extremely positive.

Bradley is an interesting case - he will be 27 fairly early into 2017 - and his 2016 was one superb month around a couple of terrible months and otherwise decent. I like him - and the Sox are pretty stacked without having to deal him, so that's nice. I am not thoroughly convinced he is even the best CF on his own team.

While I don't agree, even if you're right it says more about our OF than it does about Bradley.

I am curious as to who you think gives Bradley competition defensively.

I'm pretty certain JBJ is our best defensive CF'er, but I agree Betts is better overall.

Beni is largely unknown, especially with CF defense.

Bradley is probably the best defensive CF today. Given Mookie Betts is pretty clearly one of those sorts of athletes who can pick up just about anything given enough reps, and was possibly the best RF in the league by the end of the season - I am pretty sure he'd be a better CF if he did it regularly enough.

Then, if true, with JBJs better arm, they should be swapped.

I agree - but I think there was some politics involved there. And the team is not exactly starving there. If there was a quality corner or someone - moving Bradley would make sense. You could end up with a better outfield in the right trade. But that trade is very unlikely - so that is fine. This is a good group.

I could see putting the stronger arm in RF, but I still think that Bradley is the superior defender. While Betts has worked to improve his throwing, it doesn't compare to Bradley's arm.

I get your logic. Let's always be wise.

Leon could be a three month wonder.

Vaz struggled last year. He also was sent down, I think triple AAA. Ryan H is gone as well. He should be. Holliday spelling his name wrong, who cares though, is gone.

The Red Sox farm system took a hit from all trades DD made. The Mets have said they are not moving any of their young pitching. They could be lying. So we will take them at face value. They would like Grandy man gone as John Sterling called him or Bruce gone. I doubt the sox have any interest in the both of them IMO. The teams don't match up. They aren't taking on any money both teams. So if they trade Bradley just so they can make Beni a CF You get weak with D and the O he provides when he goes on a streak. Of course he can get injured behind the plate. I would rather see him injured behind the plate over LF. They tried Ramirez in LF . It didn't work. DD held Swihart out of most trade talks. IMO IT was for lack of C not OF. I think catching is more of a need. His value for the Sox is behind the dish. Not in the field.

It's not like Swi was a clumsy f*** in left field. He was injured trying to make a great play.

s*** happens.

His value to the team is at thge dish, not behind it, at the moment. personally I want his bat in the lineup, to hell with position. If there becomes a problem at catcher later, move him back.

Bingo. The kid is a wicked good athlete with a MLB ready bat.

if swihart is still considered a prospect i fully expect DD to trade him.

While funny, no.

Dombrowski made two trades earlier this month with two teams that desperately need catching help and yet still kept Swihart. I find it hard to believe thst the White Sox preferred Basabe and/orv the Brewers preferred Shaw or Dubon over hinf
