Pretty sure he got the win; Bauer didn't go long enough to qualify.

Yeah Miller got the win, Bauer didn't even pitch 5in. That's what I'm sayin'. I think their BP is gonna be toast when it matters, but that's their only option w/out Carrasco & Salazar out.

So we've watched 163 games and our season could be near over tomorrow. Price has never been good in the postseason. When you think about it, making the first round only a 5-game series is pretty ridiculous. But I do think that even if we lose the first two games, we could win 3 in a row.

The players we expected to be weaker links are the one's who didn't struggle offensively today. Meanwhile, Betts and Bogaerts haven't gotten going. This makes it more likely that everyone will get going at once soon.

This will be Price's chance to prove he can pitch in the postseason. He needs that little bit of movement on his pitches that he gets when he does good. But the Guardians are the type of team that could rip into Price if he goes into straight-and-easy pitch mode.

Win tomorrow and don't put yourself in a hole. I think people underestimated this Guardians team. Tough team at home. Of course they have the managing advantage.

I was telling everyone I was scared of the Guardians pitching and defense. I said our pitching had to be nearly perfect this series to win.... and tonight it wasn't. .. we lost... tomorrow Price has to bring it

Francona knew he was stealing this one when he pulled Bauer and stretched out his pen aces. Great managing there. He's got his ace lined up for games 2 and 5 and tomorrow just so happens to be Red Sox ace turned October pumpkin day. If Price proves the lamb again in October, you're f***ed. That's a huge win for Cleveland.

Season's on the line tomorrow. They have won 1 game in their last 7 games. Complete swoon.

Porcello swooned, pure and simple. 5 runs and 3 dingers in 4.1 innings.

Nearly perfect? We didn't need that, but did need Porcello to pitch his average game. Instead he gave up 5 runs and 3 dingers in 4.1 innings. Porcello was awful.

Great game by holt, hanram, and beni. Everyone else can suck it

Beni wasn't great in the OF.

Don't let runners tag from 1st to 2nd in the playoffs.

Francona used his pen masterfully. Miller should get the save.]]

Imagine if JF did something like that, and it failed.

And it still almost did fail a couple times. I wasn't thrilled with the strikezone we had to deal with vs what they had to deal with. I mean, HP ump struck-out Hanley on an unquestionable ball 4 in a key situation. Pom couldn't get a K on a closer pitch later on. Calling Papi safe at 2B was the ONLY call that didn't wined up getting overturned. I'd give the umps a c+. But that's the thing in the post-season ... You have two opponents. You have to be better than your opposition and good enough to not let the umps f*** you over. Sox were neither last night. But its still only one game.

lol. he didn't "let" him do anything. his throw was offline. if it's to the bag they have him out by 3 steps.

fine..have it your way:

Frustrating game to say the least, but I'll take solace in the fact that these looked like two very evenly-matched teams, and if even one thing breaks our way (like Porcello not crapping the bed in the 3rd, or even one of the B's having a decent game) we're probably up 1-0 right now.

Miller is a f***ing animal (and not re-signing him after '14 looks like one of the great missed opportunities in very recent Sox history), but our pen mostly held its own after Porcello came out.

Hoping for better things this afternoon. Price could really flip the narrative on his disappointing first year in Boston with a strong postseason.

Last night's game really pissed me off. But with their main BP weapons spent, we have a great chance of winning today and forcing them to win one of two at Fenway.

It's ok. Your tickets will be great for game 4. You'll get to see the Sox win the ALDS in person...

Yeah, Shields isn't a very good pitcher anymore.

Tactically, Farrell played it perfectly considering the hand he was dealt with the Porcello meltdown.

No complaints here...

The fan theory is that the reason David Price has stunk at times is that James Shields is a serial murderer who skinned David Price and now wears his skin to play for the Red Sox.

The James Shields that pitched for ChiSox this year is an imposter. Possibly a reptilian...

Ahh, got it. Seems as plausible a theory as any.
