I would not be too surprised if Game 1 was the only game the Guardians win this series. Regardless, I think the Cubs win. All they really needed was a split in Cleveland for the first two to be in really good shape, and they got that. I think there's a better than 50% chance that they never make it back to Cleveland.

Quite possibly. On the other hand, Tomlin has been pitching well and Miller will be able to pitch 2 innings in Game 3 so the Tribe has a shot to win it...then they have Kluber in Game 4.

I think it's really hard to count Cleveland out when the Series is at 1-1. I also think the cold weather will be a factor, but have no idea which way that will go. Cleveland's biggest problem is a lack of rotational depth due to injuries. I think this will be a real grind it out series but that will ultimately end up being their downfall.

 

Hoping for a closer game than the first two tomorrow.

All it would take for Cleveland to win Game 3 is for Tomlin to have his best stuff and for Hendricks to have an off night.

The Cubs have put themselves in a good spot by getting a split in Cleveland. That said, I'm not ready to count the Tribe out yet.

This Guardians team's starting to remind me of the royals team that won it all. The bullpen has been really good. Miller's such a big weapon.

I was thinking the same thing. If they pitch Kluber on Sat, then I presume Bauer (game 5) and Tomlin (game 6) will also be pitching on short rest (I think I counted the days correctly). Whereas if they go with someone else on Sat, Kluber on Sunday, save Bauer for game 6 and Tomlin for game 7. In that scenario, they would all be pitching on normal rest. Moreover, if Kluber pitches on Sunday, he could probably give the Guardians an inning or two from the bullpen in a game 7.

 

On the other hand, if they went with this scenario, who would pitch game 4? Salazar? But I'm not sure where he is physically.

Francona has been absolutely masterful to this point. He caught flack for pulling Kluber when he did and at the time, for pulling Tomlin last night. But the diminished workload should lead to fresher pitchers on short rest.

He is showing an adaptability that most sox fans didn't think he had. He doesn't have a team full of plodding mashers and big egos like he has in Boston. He's got a young team reliant on speed and skill with a starting rotation decimated sans the ace and a dominant pen. Fans who followed him in Boston wouldn't recognize the managing style he's employing now. Good for him. His team did not have the talent, especially with Brantley out, to stand up to Boston or Toronto or Chicago. But he is maneuvering them in a way that gives his team advantages.

I would really like to see Francona win another ring. However, I would also like to see Theo help end another championship drought. Both of them are among the best in the business at what they do. Both of them took a lot of undeserved flack while they were here. Many fans didn't know how good we had it when those two were here.

Lackey is nails in the WS and Kluber is on short rest. I know Francona doesn't have much option but to go to Kluber on short rest, but he was shelled in Toronto on 3 days in the ALCS. My bet is Lackey outduels him and ties up the series.
