Porcello is going to be a 20 GAME WINNER!!... and still counting.

A thing of beauty!!! He has been rolling this year that's for sure!

Lol. I thought the same thing. Ziegler went from closing to setup man to 7 th inning man to mop up man. But its working..

I thought about it for a few minutes and I think I figured out why Ziegler was brought in today. Farrell is predicting that we'll win by a comfortable amount in the E-Rod start tomorrow, but that we'll have a rougher time winning in the Buchholz start. By putting Ziegler in now, it gets his rust off, yet gives him a day to rest before he's predicted to be needed in the Buchholz game.

Hmmm could be.... however Clay has been pretty awesome this last month. I am actually expecting Clay to have a hell of a game against the Jays. Jays don't look like a real confident group tonight.

OK, so we're burning Koji in the ninth now too. And the announcers just said they wanted to give Koji another shot with no pressure to get him back to feeling good and confident. I get that......

Zig last pitched Wed. I think I might have held him till tomorrow.

It's a toss up between E-Rod and Buchholtz on who will have a better outing.....

Is it possible JF left his outfield stay out there, in this laugher, so the crowd wouldn't miss the "winner's dance?" Nah. He just forgot them!

We could really use Koji at 100% for this playoff run.....

I'm calling good call on Farrell using him tonight in this situation and now throwing him into the fire.....

I also guess we are seeing what we have with him.....

He missed about 2 weeks with the flu so that had a lot to do with it.

Farrell figures tomorrow he's got Kimbrel, Kelly, Barnes, Ross and Abad to work with at minimum.

9th straight Quality Start for 20-game winner Big Dick Rick Porcello!

Announcers mentioned earlier that this is the best performance since ... Pedro....

I dig it........ I figured he could burn a good arm on this one and get him some work.

Would you burn Zig if this was a three game playoff series though?

Big Dick is also getting over 7 runs a game in run support, which is rather incredible.

Here are the runs they've scored for him in descending order, leaving out the boring ones:

Nope!

Follow up question.

Would you burn Zig if this was a game about 22 games away from the finish against the opponent you think has the most chance of beating you to win the ALE Championship?

Zieg is not automatic so it's not like saving betances arm or something. He needs the work. He can pitch tomorrow if needed.

I said max mojo was good for at least 4 in a row. 3 down...1 to go....

I always appreciate a proper usage of the word twat.

Boy Wonder struck out for the 8th time in a row tonight.

Don't they throw curve balls in Cuba?

He should have no difficulty finding an apartment in Rhode Island for next year.

Perfect time for moncada K. What I love is that Porcello might not be our best starter right now even though he was solid against a tough lineup tonight. Price and Buch also hot and Rodriguez had 8 zeroes last time out.

And 13 runs!

Porcello pitched well tonight. He only really had one bad inning and it was more fluky than anything yet he limited the damage.

The last time the Sox had a 20 game winner was 2007, when Josh Beckett accomplished it. The time before that was Curt Schilling in 2004.

As I recall, those were a pair of rather successful seasons for the team. Let's hope history repeats itself.

Porcello has gotten a lot of run support, which if scored early, would definitely take some pressure off of him. However, it's not like Porcello is giving up 6 or 7 runs a game and winning his games 8-7. I don't think Wins are a good measure of a pitcher's performance, but in Porcello's case, he has earned most of those wins.

I love it when we start any series off with a win, especially when we're on the road.

Great win for the good guys!

Woohoo!
