Does MLB have rules about lightning? My experience comes from HS and college baseball and while it varies from league to league once a lightning bolt is seen or thunder heard the games have to be suspended for a predetermined length of time, usually at least 20 minutes.

IMO once the tarp goes down . It will get called 30 minutes later. I don't know about lightning rules. I think it becomes a hazard rule, unsafe to play. But as you post this, the rain has let up. The forecast calls for more heavy rain at 10 pm eastern time through 7 AM the next day.

This team has a flight to catch. I can imagine how tired they will be for that game tomorrow and we have buttholes going. Ughhh

I hope it either holds off or starts to rain like a cow pissin' on a flat rock so they call it immediately. One or the other.

Your right. They do. ( rules about lightning)

FWIW, I was at The Jake (yes, it was that long ago) when there was a lengthy delay because a transformer that provided power to the lights got hit by lightning. It was pouring rain and IIRC there was only one bank of lights working. Kind of eerie. (Do you see what I did there? :D )

Never heard that one before. It's very evocative.

If you've ever spent any time around cattle you know that can be a lot of water! :D

The team is looks to be on a nice run and possibly ready to really take off. We don't need to be playing until 1 am and then at 1pm tomorrow. I hate the way MLB let's these rain delays go on interminably. It isn't fair to the players or the fans. The old 1 hour rule of thumb was a good rule.

Got buttholes going tomorrow. Ughhh. Need to keep playing well on the road and get good pitching.

This is a deluge. Even if the rain stops, they can't get the field playable for 2 hours.

They better call this s*** already.

I was at a rain out in Baltimore in 2004. The usher had just put us in some sweet seats by the 3rd base dugout courtesy of a nice tip and in the 2nd or 3rd inning a deluge like this happened. A record rainfall of 4" or so fell in a couple of hours. We had ponchos, but by the time we got back to the hotel we were completely soaked -- sneakers were ruined. The water was running through the streets like a stream above your ankles. This looks very similar. I would be shocked if they restart the game.

ESPN said Buchholz was flying ahead to Detroit but his flight was cancelled so he's back at Camden Yards.

This guy must be handle with gloves.

ESPN just showed a shot of the field; left looks like it has a couple of inches of water on it from the tarp to the wall and right looks like it may be headed in that direction.
