The top 50 list is littered with Hall of Famers and other really good players. Yaz is on there. Bobby Doerr. Dave Winfield, Brooks Robinson, Ernie Lombardi, Harmon Killebrew. Pujols is on the list as is AGon, Vlad Guerrero, Pudge Rodriguez.

Sounds like most the list is guys who had really good long careers, hit the ball hard and weren't the fastest of runners. You have to be a pretty good player to be one of the all time leaders in GIDP.

I was looking at the single season list but the career list proabably reflects the same names for the reasons you said.

At this rate - Porcello could probably go the whole game.

He looks real good......... he's pitching like a pro..........

Porcello's 2015 win-loss record was 9–15. And here we are. Price's record is 9-7 so far and yall are calling for his head to be chopped off.

Porcello pitched a great game. He's our workhorse now.......................

that was fun watching Porcello tonight..........

I know last nights ending sucked.......... but these last two games pitching is exactly what we need from these guys..........

Porcello really sucked bad last year though........ I mean really bad.......

Price hasn't been totally bad......... but we thought we were buying top shelf stuff.......... it's early on him though, we have many more years with him. But damn......... we are in a playoff run................. I wish he could step it up now............................

Last start he looked great........... maybe he is settling in............

Considering what a pathetic POS Lincecum has turned out to be, the BoSox should have bitch-slapped him a lot harder than they did.

Nice to see Porcello come up big after the offense let Price down yesterday. Four game losing streaks suck, but that was the longest of the season and that's not too shabby compared to the awful streaks of the last two years. The offense and pitching aren't always going to click on the same days, but in the end the Sox are still very much in the hunt for the division lead and that's enough for me right now.

Gotta like Youk's optimism, which I think is well-founded. Kimmi was the first I think to suggest the rotation just might be OK with the current five, who I rank in this order: Porcello, Price, Wright, Pomeranz, and ERod. Interesting that Farrell has said Wright doesn't get a pass when the weather is hot and humid. Ditto that he won't defensive sub for HanRam in late and close games.

The west coast travel almost always brings with it a lull in the offense. From what I have read, it is the second day that is the worst. There is no scientific explanation for it. Luckily, we had a really good pitching performance. Tonight, hopefully the offense will get back in sync.

I wish he could step it up now.........

Yes he's had his share of mediocre performances and certainly a couple of bad ones, but how many of those L's came on a night that he pitched 6+ innings and only gave up 2 or 3 runs? If you could go to the store and buy a pitcher that will pitch exactly 6 innings every five days and give up exactly 3 runs every time - no more and no less - the price tag on that would be in the tens of millions.

Compare Price's performance on the 28th to Porcello's performance on the 29th. Praise to Porcello but Price needs to "step it up"?

It's the second inning you asses....... relax.....

LOL It is funny to read the game thread after the fact. Not that I'm faulting anyone because I certainly understand the emotional reactions that take place during the game. It's funny nonetheless.

You guys are being ridiculous, Pedroia GIDP is annoying and the team is struggling but let's be real. He's having a great year and is one of very few elite players at his position.

Thank you for the sensible post.

Not sure what you're getting at here. Price was great on the 28th. I hope we see more games like that from him.

I hope he steps it up the second half. He'd even tell you that his first half wasn't so great.
