ERod does have breaking pitches, changeup and slider. Unfortunately, both are very unreliable. As you say, he relies on the fastball because he can't control the slider or changeup.

Dont blame Farrell. He couldn't help it. When Melky tied the game with the 2 run home run, Farrell's two brain cells collided with each other incapacitating him. He did not regain consciousness until after Navarro's double. He acted immediately upon regaining consciousness. He did everything that he could do.
