I wonder who will make the All Star game for the Braves, especially considering that it sounds like Teheran is likely to be traded before then. Matt Wisler? lol

The Redsox team ops is 40 points higher than any player on the Braves with more than 100 PAs.

Every player on the sox except for Vasquez, Hanigan, Sandoval and the pitchers have a higher OPS than the braves team.

I saw on ESPN they were talking about Gordon Beckham being the Braves representative! Man, that would get me hype about the all star game.

Third voting update is out.

http://m.mlb.com/news/article/183974768/american-league-all-star-voting-update

Betts is making an even bigger push now, 5th place among outfielders and less than 10% away from 3rd place.

Bradley moved into second place for the outfield.

Bogaerts widened his lead.

The only question on Ortiz is will he lead all voting. Right now he's at 2.02 million to Salvador Perez' 2.06 million. This is really the only place where the Royals fans are having an effect. Second place at DH is the Royals Kendrys Morales of the .600 OPS. Even Bogaerts would make a run at most votes if not for the 1 million votes Alcides Escobar (0.556 OPS) has.

That's pretty cool because I voted for this very team. Although I did vote twice. One time I had Kinsler at 2nd instead of Altuve.

Nice, JBJ made a comeback. The three Red Sox that are in right now are the three I voted for, and definitely deserve in. If it wasn't for Altuve, Pedroia would have a shot too.

Personally, when I vote for all star rosters, the first thing I look at are stats. Then, after widdling a position down to 2 or 3 players that have the best stats, I see if any one of them has stats that are undeniably above the others'. If not, then I vote for the person that is either A - a more established superstar, or B - a member of the Boston Red Sox.

The three biggest problems I have with the All Star Game voting system are:

1. We can't vote for pitchers

2. Defensive statistics are not shown on the ballot, which is unfair to players like JBJ, and catchers who are good defensively.

3. We can vote too many times

A lot of good 2B out there this year. Cano and Kinsler are having good seasons as well.

It would be nice if defense mattered. Other than Ozzie Smith I don't remember any player making it due to defense.

I think Wright makes it for sure, does he have any chance of starting?

35 is a lot of times, and the Royals fans definitely use it to their advantage. I think it's based on the number of games during the voting period since All star voting used to be done at the ballpark.

What part of Maine are you in Nava? I grew up in Hampden (next to Bangor), went to undergrad in Orono.

Why are Royals players getting so many more votes then other teams players? Are they really just that dedicated to voting for Alcides Escobar and Omar Infante for no reason?

I think this might be part of it

They have a promotion where if you submit a ballot, and check the Royals as your favorite club you get entered into sweepstakes to win tickets and other stuff. They dominated the voting last year too.

Latest results are out.

Ortiz is more than 3x the number 2 at DH, Bogaerts is close to 2x the number 2 at SS.

Bradley Jr and Betts are second and third in the outfield, but it's close.

Papi needs to go to the All Star Game, for both himself and the fans, since it's his last season. However, with the way his feet are hurting, he also really needs to have that time off. While many of our players are deserving, I honestly prefer if they stayed home.

Papi would get one AB and could opt out of all other activities. It would basically be a vacation for him. Plus, they'll make a big deal about it being his last ASG.

I think attending the ASG and all of the festivities would be more tiring than it is relaxing. Vacations, while fun, are often very exhausting. That said, Papi has to attend. He deserves to be there. The fans really want this last chance to celebrate his All Star greatness.

So it seems that I voted for the starting 8 position players in the American League.

I have not looked at what I did in the NL.

I think that Sale will start.

I think the makeup of this team is unusual. Lots of speed, lack of .250 power hitters. One could pull names out of a hat and it would score a lot of runs. It will be interesting to see this group against some super NL pitching. My Lineup would be:

Ultuve

Betts

Trout

Ortiz

Machado

Hosmer

Bogaerts

Bradley

Perez

How about your?

Here's the full AL lineup:

2B Altuve

CF Trout

3B Machado

DH Ortiz

SS Bogaerts

1B Hosmer

RF Betts

C Perez

LF Bradley Jr.

SP Sale

And the National League will counter with this starting nine:

2B Zobrist

RF Harper

3B Bryant

DH Myers

C Posey

1B Rizzo

CF Ozuna

LF Cargo

SS Russell

SP Cueto

Not bad. There was some left/right thought put into the linup, as well as alternating speed and power.

My prediction tonight: Mookie goes deep, Xander, JBJ, and Ortiz each have a double. Wright doesn't allow a baserunner, and AL wins 7-4.
