The All Star Game will be hosted in NL parks for 4 consecutive years, this year being the 2nd year of the four. MLB decided to alternate who the home team is over this stretch.

Interesting. Thanks. Any reason given for four straight in NL parks?

I think the 4 day hiatus applies to all 4 major sports--MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL. Only time all year when none are playing. I think there is a point in October when all 4 are playing.

So I definitely agree this is down period for sports fans.

I didn't even know this thread was here, I haven't been in the GT forum since the end of the Rays series. This forum section is for Red Sox games only. Yankees GTs (as if!) would go in the Yankees subforum and other team's GTs and ASG GTs go in General Baseball. Merged.

The worst week of the baseball season.

It's a terrible week in terms of baseball.

They really should consult us before making such decisions.

I'm reminded of a sig line used by a former Sox forum poster (who went crazy, unfortunately):

'Baseball is life. The rest is waiting.'

Ha. Good quote, but now I'm left wondering who the poster is that went crazy. I have a good idea.

I really don't know how the parks are chosen. Teams make bids and the commissioner's office decides, but I don't know what the decision is based on. I'm sure it comes down to money.

If it comes down to money, how did Petco win? Yes, the real estate is expensive there, but there are more people sufing the waves than Padres fans out there. They could give two shits about baseball

MLB has apparently made promises of getting the All Star Game to cities who have recently built new ballparks. Cincinnati, San Diego, Washington, and Miami all have relatively new parks.
