After a sweep in which they scored at least 13 runs in all four games and hit 8 home runs, some people might expect a dialing down of the offense in a series against a slightly better team.

I do not.

Win.

To me it's all about the pitching. Even a so-so pitcher can have a good game now and then. What I like very much about our lineup right now, however, is that there are a lot of good bats. Heck, our guys are even hitting lefties! Sooner or later the hitting has to cool off a little. That's when the pitching needs to kick in.

Couple of things.

Some of the reasons Price's ERA is high is because of his LOB% and BABIP. They are way ridiculous, 54% & 373....but... His K/9 is still great; 11. So, on the bright side you could expect a regress here.

On the other hand his HR/FB is 11.8%. Just like I said in Porcello's case, If he doesn't improve this, his ERA will stay high regardless his K/9.

Unlikely Porcello, the good news is that Price's career HR/FB% is average, while Porcello's isn't -- it is 12%. Price is around 9% after 8Y. Said that, Is his HR/FB% high due to the diminish of his velocity? or is it due to his command? or both? Anyways he has to settle down his HR/FB%, soon... tonight.

Regarding tonight's game:

Boston's team-power-% according to my model is at 73% while Houston got only 33%.

Price got 48% of the points that my model consider in order to rank a pitcher while Keuchel only 31%.

We should win this but this is baseball, right? LOL!

Do you do this for every Sox game? It kind of reminds of the algorithms Ken Pomeroy uses for college basketball only he provides predictions for every single game played by all 351 Div I teams and updates the predictions daily.

Well, I've been doing this for 5 years in a row in order to bet. I do this for every MLB game, everyday -- When I have time. I also have a soccer model. I have improved my models since then and it has worked pretty decent thus far. I have shared some of my results in the sports betting thread.

I only bet when the model gives me a team with 25 points over the other. In this case BOS is 24 pts over HUO.

I'm betting on Price to be vintage Price tonight.

It's always nice to start a series with a win.

Get it done boys!

Go Sox!

I can't believe the ump just called that a strike, but I'll take it lol

I think Vazquez stole that strike for Price. It wasn't close, but I'll take it too!

I am enjoying listening to Rocket break down Price's mechanics. It is amazing how much everything has to be in sync for a player to be successful. The difference between dominance and failure is really pretty small.
