Sox had 6 righty bats against Quintana, so a little hard to place the whole blame on Young. Holt would have done no better. The one lefty bat that seemed unintimidated by Quintana was JBJ. Shaw and Ortiz struggled.

Sometimes you just have to give the other guy credit. Quintana has been tough all season.

I agree that we can't put all the blame on him, but he is on the roster primarily as a platoon player who plays against LHP. These are the guys that he is going to see, and he has done nothing thus far. He needs to start producing against these guys. Otherwise, there is no need to have him on the roster.

DD gave him 13MM reasons to be on the roster. let's see if DD is as cutthroat with his own $$$ signing mistakes as he is with Cherries mistakes (the butterball/Castillo).

$13 million to be precise.

With 32 plate appearances to date, one big game could boost Young's OPS by 200 points.

It is easy to cut bait on your predecessor's mistakes. Let's see how much rope he gives Young.

Young has a .795 OPS against lefthanders so far (which was higher before last night, of course)...obviously the sample size is still infinitesimal.

I get that his usage has been frustrating and he doesn't look like a great fit for the current roster, but I don't think we need to jump on him every time he goes 0-4 against a LH starter or pinch-hits against a LH reliever and fails to get on base.

I don't think he is a platoon outfielder, but could be wrong. I see him as the 4th outfielder, but one who ain't no bargain at $2.5M. I agree he needs to hit or else, but last night was not a good test because the White Sox starter was dynamite as he has been all season.

Are you talking about Young? Young makes $2.5 mil / year? I thought it was $6.5 Mil / year.

We know that he can't hit RHP. We got him primarily to take ABs against LHP. If he keeps taking ohfers against lefties, we should move in a different direction. I'd give Allen Craig a shot.

Craig has only played in 4 games so far. He's been on the DL.

If Young keeps giving us nothing, I would still consider giving Craig a shot when he comes off the DL. He swung the bat pretty good this spring.

Wright's continued dependability and HanRam's bomb were encouraging on an otherwise forgettable night. I feel like Hanley is due to get hot, which would be huge for this team.

Didn't like losing last night, to state the obvious, but sometimes there are bigger things to take away from a game. Wright was once again very good. And Smith should be a big addition to our BP.

The Sox have absolutely stunk against LH starters. They have scored, I believe, 2 runs in 23 innings pitched by left handers and are batting .108. Most of the right handed hitters have better splits against RHP, albeit very SSS. They all share the blame.
