Winter Weekend Emails!

So the emails for all of us who are going to Winter Weekend at Foxwoods have gone out. You are only allowed one autograph session and photo with one player. You have to sign up for a time slot, and they are between 10am and 6pm and each are only one hr sessions. Problem is you do not know who you will meet as it is a blind pick. Not sure what time to choose as I have already met most of the team and would much rather meet Tek or Pedro, and possibly Clements because I have yet to meet them.

Glad I am not the only one. I feel the same way. I kinda have a connection with clements because my dads cuz had dinner with his family a few times. Also back when he played for the sox my 7th grade teacher's son was in the minors for the sox and he brought him and mo Vaughn to our school.

Which reminds me of a story!!!!!

 

I was traveling with my roommate to Nova Scotia on our motorcycles. We took a big shortcut by taking the Prince Of Fundy ferry from Portland to Yarmouth overnight.

 

There was a buffet!!! My roomate was standing in front of me in line as we made a lap around the buffet table. The guy in front of my roommate kept backing into my roommate.

 

Finally my friend had had enough of this s*** so he "stumbled" into the fat f***. The guys spilled all of his plated food all over himself.

 

Not one of my best stories, to be sure. But it was notable at the time!

He did not live up to any expectations and did not do anything of note last year except go on-line while playing in a game.

 

 

He has an uphill battle to gain any respect around Boston.

While I was at winter weekend I was told by someone that Hanley ran up to a little boy who was wearing his jersey and gave him a hug.

 

This event was well worth it because you actually got to mingle with the players, so if you didn't get a autograph session or photo with one you wanted you were bound to see them walking around and they were very approachable. Seen Tek at 6:45am on Saturday at Dunkins he was in line behind me. Tried to buy his coffees but the lady at the register thought I was nuts and didn't know who he was.

I have no problem with Hanley. I had a big problem with Ben signing him for big bucks for 4 years to play a position that he had never played without knowing whether he could make the transition. That was an obvious train wreck from day one of Spring training. I saw it first hand and sent up warning flares about it here on TalkSox. I am unsettled about whether he can play 1B, and if that defensive experiment fails, it can wreck 2016. I was hoping that he would get moved to avoid that, but I have no problem with Hanley. He seems like a fun guy.

Yeah im not sure about first base. When they interviewed him at winter weekend it seemed like he was more ready for the DH position than first base.

As I've said many times, Hanley gets a bad rap as far as his character goes.

 

Some might seem to give him a bad rap but not many. I think that the majority of people posting here are just confused and concerned that these "rumors" have chased him around from team to team. You think everyone is just out to get him? Many of the most negative comments seem to me to be directed toward the obvious fact that he had a really bad year last year. If he cannot play a decent first base, could be a rough time for just a little while. No real doubt in my mind that DD will allow any potential problems to fester. For his future as well as ours, I hope that he can get the job done.
