I'll be too busy reading Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell to pay much attention.

It's Buccholz and Dickey, but I doubt anyone really cares at this point. It's not like this post will get to 100 replies or anything. Hope you all are finding better means of entertainment this summer.

I still care. It's baseball and the Red Sox. We still care. Does the FO care enough to get this season back on track? If so, you need to make some moves! Ben, try to save your job. It is really easy to replace a FO suit, and when you are gone, you will have trouble getting yourself arrested-- no more free travel, free meals etc. and no one will come if you call a press conference. Do something Ben.

You smoking crack???

They gotta play like a 100 win team from here on out to have a shot at that second wildcard spot. And we all know without solid pitching that is gonna be out of the question.

Just kidding Mr. 700....... . . but season on track???? Do you or don't you trade at the deadline?
The trade deadline will be too late. If they wait until then, they will be sellers.

Any move Ben makes at this point also has a strong possibility of blowing up in his face. Nobody's out to do us any favors.

Imo, he has to take the risk if he wants any chance of keeping his high paid cushy job. I we stay where we are, maybe he can get Dan Duquette's job that he had during his exile. If you remember Duquette had to buy his own ticket to watch the 2004 Red Sox win the World Series. He was in exile for about 10 years and he never finished last, never mind 3 times.

From many accounts that I've read though, Duquette was acting like a paranoid nutjob toward the end of his tenure. I think that may have been part of the issue with him.

I haven't watched or heard a game in two weeks because I've been so busy. I'm done with that stuff now. Let's go!

LOL! Are you really paranoid if they are out to get you? I never believe any of that rumor or innuendo which always coincidently shows up in the press after the Red Sox part ways with someone.

This is one of the reasons I don't blame the Red Sox about being very tight lipped with respect to any player issues and concerns. The media will create news if they can't find a source that they trust. It is kind of like it being easier to say I'm sorry than to ask for permission after the fact.

I find it credible in light of how long it took Duquette to get another GM job.

He wasn't well-liked-- he had an arrogant way. That might be the reason ro it could be lots of other reasons. GMs tend to move around the league, but if you manage to get fired, getting rehired is not that easy. I wouldn't give the rumor/innuendo any credibility, becasue of how long it took him to get back. He might have been offered positions at franchises that didn't interest him etc. After working for the Red Sox, most other jobs are a big step down.

Clay Buchholz is probably the exception. He's a ticking time bomb. He's down to a 3.68 ERA right now, with a 2.70 ERA in the last two months. Maybe there is a high ceiling prospect out there in a trade... if Buch stays healthy long enough.

Very possible. But what 700hitter was talking about, and what I was also referring to, are moves that make us better now and improve our chances for making the playoffs.

I don't think the wildcard is feasible. I think it's the division or bust. This division is so weak it's more likely that we will catch one of our division opponents than a wildcard team.

We have to catch all of our division opponents. We are in last place

and we'd have to catch 8 teams for the wildcard. As we stand, the two wildcard teams are AL East teams anyway. What your point?

This game is at Rogers, I think Buchholz gets murdered today honestly.

I never like a knuckleball pitcher in Roger Center either. I wouldn't be surprised if this game is high scoring.

You had mentioned catching one of our division opponents. I was pointing out that we would have to do more than that.

You're right, I did. I miss typed. We'd have to catch them all (try to avoid the Pokémon joke).

Horrible ABs by Ortiz, Sandoval and Napoli... Not surprising

They all looked like they were swinging for the fences. Should of just tried to make good contact in that situation.
