Two things.......

The bullpen might be solved. Masterson and Kelly.

Thinking our stellar defense was going to help the pitching kind of blows my mind.

What is stellar about Hanley in right, somebody and possibly Craig in Right. Betts who is an infielder in center. Along with Xander who we had no idea would be good or not. Add Sandoval who was never a great fielder........

I keep hearing about our stellar defense that was supposed to prevent runs........ how was that calculated to become stellar.

They were expecting Bogaerts to improve, and they were on point with that. They expected Sandoval to keep being the above-average fielder he's always been, and they were dead wrong on that asessment. How Napoli and Pedroia also regressed defensively was unexpected, as was both catchers getting injured. Hanley has little to do with the GB staff they supposedly had assembled, and Hanley plays left. Hindsight is 20/20 as well.

And "s*** the bed". :P

I do not remember who wrote that word in "past tense", so I thought it was "right" written.

LOL! It is not even a verb, is it?

Learn to separate the strategy from the execution: If the strategy is to sign guys who induce a lot of groundballs and surround them with a good defense and reinforce them with an above average offense, the 2005 White Sox won it all using that strategy. The strategy is sound, the pitchers they got to execute that strategy were not. One easy thing they could have done to avoid being where they are right now was shore up the pitching depth and they did not.

No UN. He was correcting iOrtiz's grammar. as in "dead wrong" as apposed to "death wrong".

First off......don't lecture me.........

I get you. The strategy was alright..... You can build a team many ways that will win. The goal is to be better than the opponents.

It can be done by incredible offense and lousy defense. Or incredible defense and mediocre offense...........

It can be built many ways and rarely are all facets top notch.

So..... I agree with you. It was the execution. I just think the players we got, and over valuing some players on our roster wasn't executed correctly. So maybe the FO's execution didn't work. Add to the mix they didn't see the downfall of Nap and Ortiz, and totally blew it on the rotation..........

s*** is a noun but it is used as a verb a lot.

"he s*** all over himself" or he "s*** the bed".

The problem for Ben is that he is going to have to explain why things have gone so wrong, and the "this was highly unusual or completely unexpected" excuse will not cut it with his employer. They are just excuses by a guy who has built noncompetitive teams 3 out of 4 seasons. It is just a bunch of excuses and whining. Call the whaambulence!

As I said, most of the people here and out there agree that this is on BC and the FO, and that my friend is attached to the strategy/plan and hence to the excution and results.

... And what would be the past tense of that semi-verb? Shitted or just s***? LOL!

Bitch it's my birthday (well, in a couple hours) so I'll lecture you if I want to. I'd add that the "downfall" of Ortiz may be a premature statement. He's a notoriously slow starter. Sure has come around lately though.

I have this analogy I'm going to use that almost equates to building a team. It's almost how car dealers try to get money from you.

They want to make as much money as they can off you. Kind of like how you want to build a good team.

Car dealers can get you on the price of the car. Or they can get you on the trade in. Or the financing. And last, but not least, they can get you on the warranty.

They will sacrifice not making money on one if the buyer has a strong opinion on getting a good deal on that aspect. But they will push hard on another aspect to get the money they didn't make from the one they gave in to.

Building a team can be very much like this. You will have strong points already on your team, and you need to go and get what will compliment them. Sometimes a team will need to go in a direction such as offense, and maybe not throw away the farm on pitching.

So I get the strong offense and mediocre pitching thing.

But dang....... the offense blew it the first half of this year.

And the pitching is in ....... a ....... disarray right now......... and needs CPR.

The offense is out of the funk I believe. The second half they should rake. May was an enigma for the offense....... what are the odds they do that again.

But this rotation needs help. With Buch another good starter might have done it. Now, who knows.

Kazmir and Cueto. And they have the pieces to do it and the money to keep them both.

Yea, around low thirties then you do find that you know it all. It all makes sense.......... until you reach 40, then the whole process starts again.

Any ideas on what the Sox payroll will be like next year? When they went over the luxury tax limit this year, everyone was saying they'll get back under for next year. If they plan on getting back under, and pick up options on Buchholz and Ortiz, there's not much money for next year. In the 20-30 mil range I think. They might could trade one of the big contracts though.

They have Napoli, Victorino and Masterson coming off the books.
