35 of final 79 games against AL East teams. 10 against $pankees. Sox would have to play amazing well to get back in it. Don't think they have the pitching to have that kind of success. The chance is there though.
your next to last sentence is the key to why it will not happen.

The rest of the season is just how your Mother likes is Trebek....... rough.

We obviously need to put a hurt on the Yankees.

If we started the season with the current rotation I think it would be fine with adjustment down the road.

But when we have to win at a good clip to get back into, the only way I see that happening is with one more shutdown person in the rotation.

If we shore up another good pitcher, and Buch and E-Rod keeps grooving, we will also be a playoff team next year.

The two game series, and the upcoming all star game messed with the schedule I believe. Luck of the draw I suppose...

Hey UN.......... why don't you come in here and baffle me with your ********!!!?????!?!?!?!!?!?

How do you think the second half will go?????

Season's over.

ahahaha . . . .

Keep that chin up........ . . .

I'm looking forward to it any way it goes............

I think that we all are interested in the 2nd half. Even if it remains unlikely that the Sox will rebound.

It's our team, good or bad.

Personally, I give myself a B plus rating as a fan for the half.

I've had my low points for sure. I haven't been consistent at all the first half. But I've also shown All Star caliber at times, as infrequent as they were.

My projections for myself as a poster in the second half is questionable........... we have a small sample size to get a good projection.

We'll probably see more of the same........ All Star potential with no consistency and lackadaisical play........

So it kind of means I'll be hanging around ...............

We all have our moments as fans.

I have vowed to quit baseball many times this season (and most seasons), only to be back the next day, excited for the game to start.

I hope you'll be sticking around. I've enjoyed your posts. :)

Ben thinks so. See my signature. Lol!

And the large majority of analysts agreed with him.

Seriously, they should not have been as bad as they were the first half.

Hard for me to say it's over. I'm always hoping there's a chance and never give up until we are mathmatically eliminated. In a way I hope the Sox would lose the next 10 games to put an exclamation point for a comeback. This might be an overreaction to some on this site, but the 2011 season felt like a death in the family to me. I've never been so upset over sports like that ever. All I really want now is for them to win on August 6th. That will somewhat make this season better for me.

I'm very glad that I'm a golf fan along with being a Sox fan. There's always something going on in golf and hardly any of it causes me any pain.

It's not over yet. The odds are against us, but stranger things have happened.

I know it's "only baseball", but I understand exactly what you're saying about the 2011 season. It seems kind of silly to let a sport affect us so much, and I keep telling myself not to let it, but I can't help it.

and even if they had performed up to expectations, they were two 4s two 4s and an injury prone 3 and that was not going to be good enough, but we have been around this wheel several times.

LOL Bell, I wrote that statement with you in mind.

I'm teasing about golf. It's a sport I could get into if I just took the time to do.

NASCAR, on the other hand....

2011 was excruciating.

I am just hoping that the situation doesn't get so bad that someone has started the Red Sox Hot Stove thread by August 6th. Lol!

I agree. You SHOULD be able to comment on everything. It's just that these fights have gotten out of hand for no reason. Poster A mentions Poster B who has them ignored, someone else jumps in and adds fuel to the fire. It wouldn't be an issue if people could learn to ignore or you know, act like a grown up. I'm all up for entertainment, it makes the site fun. I was guilty of starting up s*** too, but it wasn't constantly happening. I still love the site, but this little war we have is making me lose interest. We're all here for the same reason. Yes we disagree on things, but that's suppose to happen.....minus the insults. I would just hate to see someone get banned or lose a long time poster because he/she decided to stop posting.
