Eovaldi looked good tonight. His slider is a bit flat but on the whole, he is a horse. High 90s sinker and a splitter that looked untouchable for about 6 innings. The raw stuff is insane and tonight he did it against one of the best offenses in baseball

Btw, the ABs vs Betances were hilarious. Davis and Kinsler swung at breaking pitches in the dirt, but swung as if they didn't see the ball. They were straight guessing and got badly fooled. Our pen has some serious firepower

A tough series coming up vs the Mets. Their pitching even minus wheeler has been outstanding. Gotta see if Pineda can build on his recent performance and show some stuff from last yr

We pounded the s*** out of DeGrom. Tex still has pop even though he'll never hit for average again. Pineda doesn't throw hard anymore, but he has great secondary stuff and impeccable command which gets him by. 10-7 and tied for first is more than I expected to this point.

If your pitching stays healthy you're in the race for the AL East Title no matter what my whistling past the graveyard colleagues on this board wish and hope for. In the meantime our pitching isn't worth s*** at the moment and points to Cherington's stupidity is understanding that pitching wins, good solid pitching. You do not slug your way to a title---I know of no team that has ever done it this way, and is probably the reason Ben will be dumped as GM in a year or two and will wind up being Theo's Gofer again. If we fall down this year someone is going to have to fall on the sword and you can bet it won't be Lucchino.

Fred, you are not supposed to be complaining this year. You predicted a first place finish for the Sox, and subsequently said you would, therefore, not complain. We all knew this division would be tight, and so far, that's proven to be the case. We have a long way to go. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

I expected your pitching to be good, provided they stay healthy, which they have so far. I am surprised that your offense if doing as well as they have so far. I didn't think they had it in them. It's early, but if the offense continues, I will have to admit that I was way off the mark on that one.

When the Yankees played Boston their lineup looked like a patchwork of anemic hitters. It's disappointing that they've clicked so well so far. I hope they come off the rails soon.

Disappointing, to say the least. Especially since they're being led by Arod.

I always hope they come off the rails. Losing today would be a good start.

I'm more concerned about our team coming off the rails Kimmi, especially when you have a moron like Farrell managing our team. Brock Holt is hitting over 400, got the game winning three run homer last night....AND HE IS ON THE BENCH TONIGHT?????? That is pure idiocy and we have that in Farrell and to me there is no excuse for such stupidity.

Fred, you are always concerned about our team coming off the rails. I understand wanting to keep Holt in the lineup, but I also understand the need to get Craig some consistent at bats. As of now, Holt is a bench player. Hence, he will be spending some time on the bench.

Pleased with our offense to this point. I think Pineda and Tanaka are trending up, but I'm worried about the last three spots to this point. Sabathia has an amazing K:BB ratio as does Eovaldi, but both are getting shelled. Warren has been inconsistent. Thank god our offense and pen have been fantastic

Yes I am.....because it is coming off the rails, and I totally disagree with you and others who say Holt is a bench player. When you're leading the league in hitting and batting hundreds of points higher than some of the stiffs in the lineup, you put the guy in the lineup and you keep him there. Craig is done in Boston. He never liked being traded here and said so the day the trade was made. No use beating a dead horse on that. If he doesn't hit in the next three or four games get his ass out of town. And enough of this I understand wanting to keep Holt in the lineup and also understand the need to get Craig some consistent at-bats. No, you have to stop running around Robin Hood's barn and try staying in the middle on this. Right now the team sucks and if it doesn't wake up soon we will have another 2012 and 2014 on our hands, and I can assure you fans in Boston, the press and media will not be as pollyannish in giving Prune Face and Co a pass. Things had better start changing in a hurry or the next time we blink we may be in last place.

21 games in and our offense is doing great. Our pen is still lights out and the twin towers have actually turned all games into 7 inning affairs. Losing Tanaka is a humongous blow. They are downplaying this as more of a wrist issue, but for f***s sake, fix the elbow. There will be top of the line starters on the market. Make it happen. We actually have a developing farm system with some top end talent in the high minors. We have a gigantic wave of talent coming in the next 3 years as well. If the FO believes in this team, then they have to acquire a top tier starter

Kind of excited to see Pirela coming back. I hope Joe uses him at 2B and we can see what he can do. I think he'll have one or two more games in triple-A

Petit sucks. Ryan just pulled his hammy again. Drew's versatility allows us to carry a utility guy who probably shouldn't man SS. Pirela can hit and he can run. It remains to be seen if he can play D. DFA Petit, bring up Pirela and move forward.

Btw, very pleased with our starters in this series. Solid outings from CC and Eovaldi and a great start for 5.2 from Warren before he post it completely. Our pen is good enough to turn those games into wins. And since our pen is deep and our minor league depth is huge, we should be able to mitigate burnout. After a rough first nine games, this team is looking up

Got to hand it to the Yankee FO. Last year the rotation was a mess but somehow was stabilized by good effective pitching.

This year many similar problems and questions exist. Yet, the pitching has been pretty good overall. At least good enough to keep the teem in most games.

I wonder why the Sox do not do this?

Yankees made some pretty good moves this winter. They stayed away from big free agents, although they got Miller he wasn't a bank buster. Trading Banuelos for Carp and Sherve was a little weird since we had so much bullpen depth but its paying off. I just wish Joe would use Carp more often. Signing Martin and keeping Rodgers has paid off. Only thing different I would of done was sign that Cuban SS you guys got. Yankees need to have a really good draft this year though. I'd like to see what kind of trades Cashman has up his sleeve. I like the way he is handling it though. Trading Greene and Phelps, losing Tanaka and the rotation is still in pretty good shape.

Nova should be back June 1. If the Yankee brass isn't lying and Tanaka really only has a wrist strain, he should be back by then as well. I also expect Severino to be in the mix either as a late inning guy late in the year or as a rotation guy depending on depth. They have really managed his innings to the tune of 5IP per start from the get go. That to me makes me think he is on an inning count with the restriction early to allow him to have a longer year.

Not interested in seeing Servino up this year. I'd like to see Lindgren up though.
