Or maybe they package up XB to land a starting pitcher?

Doesn't make a ton of sense to me. They would be spending a ton of money for no reason. More likely they trade Cespedes to Seattle for Iwakuma, or something of that caliber trade.

All I know is that I've heard from some people with sources inside NESN that Cherrington has a couple head spinning trades up his sleeve right now, he's just having to set them up right now. Maybe it is Bogaerts that goes, but I would be surprised.

So the dummy who said that Hanley and the sox had a deal is wrong, but there is definitely some smoke in that direction via rotoworld. The sox want both Hanley and Sandoval? Are they racing to sign the two guys who are probably the highest risk to not be worth their contracts? Hanley cannot play D as a SS and cannot stay on the field and Panda doesn't hit well and cannot avoid the buffet table

Sandoval can't hit? What are you smoking?

Well the generally obnoxious Yankee fan does have a point. While he keeps tearing it up in the playoffs year after year, his regular-season OPS has been declining for four years running.

HanRam heading to Boston for 5/90.

That is.....a steal. An absolute steal

I hope this means the Sox want Ramirez to play third and are out on Sandoval.

Really hoping Hanley signs in Boston, and Pablo goes elsewhere. Spending 200 million to fill one position would be a poor use of resources, unless Xander is going somewhere for a 20 year old ace.

Hanley has question marks, but damn, that bat.

Means Cespedes is in play ... and that the Red Sox don't have to chase Sandoval indiscriminately. I still think the Giants will get Panda back.

Still early on the west coast. Gotta give time for the SF FO to wake up so he can notify them Panda in Boston bound lol

If the Heyman tweet is accurate, getting Sandoval and Ramirez each for under $20M a year is a very strong haul. Panda in particular remains a trade asset if other stuff doesn't work out (in particular a solid chance that you are only getting a small part of his decline years)

Another good point some are forgetting

This is totally ridiculous.....two of them, both of them?????? What the hell do we do for pitching? Do you think that we will be able to now sign Lester? No way Jose? We now go for the low risk high reward trash that has never worked for us. I see Lucchino's palsied hands all over this and it will all blow up in his face and then ours. You cannot win a title buy winning 10-8 games consistently, and, remember this----Hanley has become very injury prone the past two seasons. He can hit but his fielding is horseshit as well. You guys can celebrate but I'm predicting these two signings will turn out to be a very bad move for us. YOU WIN WITH PITCHING AND RIGHT NOW WE DON'T HAVE BUMPKISS IN THIS REGARD.

The P market is crawling at a snails pace because of Boras and his usual s***. The offensive market was the first to break and it seems the Sox sprung into action. I swear to fing god if they didn't sign these 2 and waited on the SP market, even if they signed Lester you'd be losing your s*** because the SOx had not done anything to the offense and "they need to score runs too" rants would go on and on and on. We get it, you don't like the FO..

I'm pleased the FO is making moves. I'm willing to wait to see how this whole off-season shakes out before I praise or condemn. I'm really curious to see the third, fourth and fifth shoes drop after these two moves. If nothing else, it's an indication of a willingness to spend some money to improves the team, which is almost never a bad thing....

Can't see Panda as a trade asset. He's already getting paid more than any other team is willing to pay him, and now they would have to give up players too. He's gonna have to be much better than he has been the last 3 years for anybody to want to trade for him.

Easy Fred. Let it shake out. Clearly the Sox want to go after pitchers via trade, and had to build depth to be able to make said trades.

Let it play out. Take a deep breath. Today is a good day.

All he has to be is what he is already ... an above average defender with good contact rates (which is hard to find) and good makeup. He is also still young enough to have a little bit of projection left. For the $/WAR (which applies more to Boston than other teams because of the market rewards), it is reasonable.

Hey. Here's something. 14 year old Jake Wesley was the guy who leaked these signings. He has no connections to Boston, and has never been to the city.

We have absolutely no clue whether he is right or wrong until it gets announced. Who know what is true or not at this point?

Are you still saying you don't know if these signings are real??

Because they've been reported by CBS, Fox, ESPN, all of the MLB national writers, the list goes on.

The deals are done.

Has the Panda deal been confirmed by a news outlet?

Hanley's deal has been reported by multiple sources. Pablo's deal has been reported by sources citing Heyman, who cites a source from this 14 year old boy. I don't think the Pablo deal is done yet.

I love this.

On a day when the biggest sports news in Boston should be the Pats dominating win over yet another division leader / top team, the headlines are all about the Sox doings.

I'm a Pats fan. But if there was any doubt about what team is the top dog in the Boston area it has been dispelled.

The Sox rule.
