Both Chris Rose and Kevin Millar picked the Orioles to win the AL

O's definitely looks the strongest. Good lineup, strong rotation, excellent bullpen. As long as Jones or Cruz don't pull s*** in the OF, they have to be favorite to go deep.

Big Game Shields was bounced early in the fifth at 80 pitches for a wild rookie who proceeds to get lit up. Our old friend Soxsport probably is feeling pretty smug right now.

Maybe its just getting to watch Lester in yet another elimination game, but the Red Sox really dropped the ball letting him go. He's truly a special talent -- so many of us here were spoiled by Roger and Pedro, but for other teams, he would have been a generational type arm.

...this was assuming they'd take him out in the 8th. Man, the A's bullpen sucks.

I have never seen a runner steal a base faster than Gore just did. I feel like he just broke a world record or something.

speed kills. The Royals are running wild and creating all these runs.

Huh? How can you not find this to be a great game? I think it just seems bad because of the mind-numbingly dull play-by-play announcer.

How is this a good game? it's absolutely s***. Bad management. Bad executions and everything. Two two AB by Perez and Infante? Holy crap.

I see your point, but I think the closeness of the game makes up for it. But now that I think about it, the A's could have taken Lester out sooner. And Perez flailing at that 0-2 pitch to ruin the sac-fly chance was frustrating to watch.

Seriously, I could see Farrell having a game like this as well.

Lmao @ A's! I hate Oakland and I have always hated the A's. I am also glad that Lester will not be working deep into the post season and wearing out his arm for next season. I want him to be in top form when we face him with the Yankees. LOL! ;)

What a game... what a game. it was great for the KC crowd. feel happy for them. even though i was rooting for the half redsox team.. i still miss Brandon Moss.

he single handedly took over this game...

but what a come back by the Royals.. well deserved.

my top 10 games of all time for sure.

Station--what you saw last night were two teams fighting tooth and nail and playing for all they were worth for their respective teams. Along with that, however, you saw two of the shittiest managing jobs in baseball this season. Ned Yost was pathetic......He knew his bullpen was lockdown from the seventh inning on with three solid relievers but also had to know that if he had to go to his other bullpenners before the seventh he was in serious trouble. First of all, if that was certain then why take out Big Game James in the sixth when he had only thrown about 86 or so pitches? And then put a guy in who pitched miserably in the few innings he threw this season? The result was carnage as the A's exploded for five runs and maybe the game. His team got the s***** Yost off the hook. Let me tell you and others this.....if he manages like this against the Angels, Mike Scioscia will eat his lunch and skin him alive because he can't carry Mike's jock in the dugout.

If Yost was pathetic then Bob Melvin was out and out putrid. He has the lead 7-3 in the eighth and Jon Lester is running of fumes. He gives up a run scoring single to make the score 7-4 and there is a runner on with one out. Time to get a fresh pitcher in there. Hell on TV you could see he was laboring and getting his pitches high. No, though, not Melvin the morbid. He keeps Jon in there to get pounded for two more runs until it is 7-6 before he takes him out. It eventually cost him the game. When all is said and done it comes clear through to me that while there are a few Scoiscias, Maddons, Showalters and Bocheses managing there are a helluva lot of Yosts, Melvins, Farrells and Venturas who stink up everything theuy seem to touch.

I agree today Lester should have been out in the eighth inning. But he did get out with 7-4 lead. Two runners on were Lester s responsibility. It was the base stealing that created havoc. They stole a base against Lester which was not seen that often.
