It's mindboggling that AOJ hasn't even hit into a single by mistake by now.
He's horrifyingly bad. They should give him a chance to rebuild himself in the minors. Middlebrooks need to establish consistency in the minors. He is up here flailing like a blind man at a swarm of bees.

Out of desperation, you would think that he would have bunted to break this streak.

I come back from camp to see an overall well played game. Rubby looked good again, and Cespedes is producing, what we got him for, I looked though the highlights and saw of the Yoenis defense that we know and love, as well as some more JBJ defense. I'm really looking forward to 2015. We just need 1 or 2 quality SPs and we can easily be WS bound. I love all of the moves that were made, and am saying that now with this being the first chance I have to comment on it.

On a side note, the tandem of WMB at 3B, and XB at SS is what I've wanted all along, or at least until Cecchini is ready. When he is, we can use Will as trade bait to get one of those pitchers, maybe even this offseason.

That was one of my points regarding AO's futility.....he cannot bunt for base hits because he cannot put the ball on the ground at all. Then he has very average speed for a player who would be required to use that talent to get on base. Couple that with his total lack of power and his high strikeout totals and you have total washout at the plate. I know Ted people keep saying give him more time. He's had more than enough time and he is only getting worse. PUNCH HIS TICKET OUT OF THE LINEUP NOW AND OUT OF TOWN TO THE NL THIS WINTER.

I was trying to find where AOJ's streak falls in the history of futility but it isn't quite clear.

45 at bats is the record for a non pitcher

There is a common thing between both xander and jackie besides the fact they both can't hit right now. After both of there hot streaks, they both fell off a damn cliff. Xander went from hitting 300 by the beginning of june to hitting .240 by july and now he is down to .230. Jackie started heating up in July but has been unbelievable futile the last two weeks as he hasn't got one measly hit. They have hit these walls and haven't been able to rebound whatsoever. Its normal to cool down after a hot streak, but becoming absolutely non productive is a different thing, Edited by BigPapi

I look to this upcoming 11 game homestand as the last chance for both to truly break out. Xander has shown signs recently, from what I know, which isn't much since I was away.

Oof. 3 more starts by Bradley, given his approach, should get him the record. 2015 is going to be a long long summer if Boggaerts, B, and Middlebrooks are given 'one more chance' to prove themselves.

I am just wondering. What kind of major league career did that guy have. The were some Shortstops in the 60's that carried around .210 batting averages.

Who is AOJ?

Gotta be Bradley. I hope they don't explain this abstruse way of referring to him, because it's been very amusing (if futile) trying to figure it out.

Craig Counsell, 2011, tying Dave Campbell 1973 and Bill Bergen 1909. (Just trying to keep up with the astonishing depth of information possessed by posters here is exhausting).

Sorry Thunder, but Xander has shown no such signs recently. He looks completely lost and befuddled at the plate. He left three more runners on base yesterday. He, like Bradley, is looking more and more like a lemon these days.

I like this.

I thought he would turn into something good, but so far not too much. Always hurt. Wasn't he suppose to be the next Boggs? LOL

Let's see ... maybe it's "All Outs, Jr." or (assuming J is Jr.) All zeros; always out; always overmatched; Aw Ouch; At zero; ... hmm. No idea. ... Oh wait. ... Aha! I got it, finally. (But having stumbled onto the answer, I feel I am not at liberty to reveal it.)
