Was this a scheduled day off for Ortiz? If so, they should rethink that policy while the team is stuggling so bad offensively. Peavey battled. He's not a top of the rotation pitcher, but he gives us innings and keeps us in games. We would be winning many of these games if our offense was competent.

I heard that Victorino had a setback. The guy is made of glass. He makes Ellsbury look like Cal Ripken Jr. We need Vic in the lineup. I read that Doubs will be starting in the A's series in place of Workman. I guess he will get dropped from the rotation.

The Sox need to rebound over the weekend. They need to win a bunch of series in a row to get back into the running for a playoff spot.

This loss is Fred's fault.

Definitely. Screwing with the GT mojo is a banable offense IMO!

Well that and our offense can't buy a hit to save their lives.

My guess is it was a combo:

a) They were planning a day off for him sometime around now.

B) Cross-country flight.

c) 10 for 55 career vs. Kazmir.

The 10 for 55 is an improvement over the 4 for 25 that the lineup did against Kasmir yesterday. Plus, he is 1 of the 2 authentic power threats on the team.

Worse sox offense in years! This team is one big f***ing tease. The bottom line is that they cant hit worth a lick!!! Drew got his money and laughed all the way.

d-money, when I saw that Drew was going to be in the lineup last night against a left hander to which he hit only 196 against them last season, I knew our goose was halfway cooked. Put Ross and Bradley in that mix and you have s*** on a roll, and I'll tell you something else. If those guys are in the lineup again tonight against another left hander you can mail in another loss. This is heresy to some but personally I think Farrell has managed this season with his head up his ass, and the fact that he seems to have his favorites and those people aren't doing crapola, only makes things worse.

So if what you surmise is true, what changes and moves do you recommend to turn it around?

I don't understand the stubborn insistence of sending Bradley out game after game when he is so clearly overmatched. Victorino's absence has been a killer.

Hopefully so he can figure it all out. I think they want to give him all the time in the world to do it, even if it means sacrificing parts of the season if not the whole season. Hope the strategy works in the end.

We can't do anything about tonight since the lineup is in and Farrell is determined once again to play his inept pets Bradley and Drew. Now right after the game, I would move Bogaerts back to short where he belongs, make Drew a utility man and if he balks try to trade him or release him and just eat that f***ing money we never should have given him in the first place. Put Cecchini on third until they call up Middlebrooks, and then start having Will take some balls in the outfield so to get some power there. He's a good athlete and if Holt can play the outfield so can Will. If WMB is at third send Garin down where he can play every day but still work on Will until he can play in the outfield. Put Holt in CF and get Bradley the f*** out of there, send him to the minors or trade him. Just get him the hell out of Boston----and that goes for Ross too. He can't hit water if he fell out of a boat. Bring up Vasquez and add a little better defense and a lot more offense than we were getting from Ross---which was next to nothing. With Bogey and Will on the left side of the infield, Holt in CF, Nava and Gomes platooning in left with Nava in RF when Gomes is playing left----we will not have as good a defense but we will have a better offense and that is what is sinking us right now. We need the best nine hitters in that damn lineup and Bradley, Drew and Ross are not in that nine. That is what I would do.

In my opinion it won't. Bradley has a slow bat, cannot get around on a good fastball and is a sucker for breaking balls in the dirt. The latter is possibly fixable, the former is most certainly not.

Way to completely ignore your dropping the ball and not starting the next GT after 3 wins in a row. You are completely clueless as usual.

Clueless???? I think we won those games when I started that thread, or are you talking through your pants again? And I think I said if Drew and Bradley were in the lineup last night we would lose, didn't I? I think you believe clueless is when someone is right. Time to get your head out VA and smell the freakin' coffee. Tell you another clueless blurb. If Drew and Bradley are in the lineup this afternoon you can mail in another loss because the ship will not righted until those two are out of here.

Fred needs to have his avatar and sig changed. Also, he shouldn't make another GT this season so we don't go on a losing streak :(

RSFFL----you get Drew and Bradley out of that lineup, move Bogaerts back to short and put Middlebrooks back on third as soon as he is brought up and you won't have to worry about who starts the GT. Ever since Drew came back and was inserted into the lineup we have lost even worse than we did before he came on. That signing was a disgrace and was the biggest blunder of a lot of blunders the front office has made this year and it won't be righted until those two are gone. Also keep in mind that since Xander was moved to third he has stopped hitting and his fielding has gone backwards as well. Think maybe his confidence was shaken by the move? He said he was a SS, wanted to play there and felt he could do the job. Meanwhile Drew went hitless for the third or fourth game in a row, is hitting well below the Mendoza line and we keep losing. He needs to be sat down and made a utility player.

You really have no idea what I was talking about.

You see, we have a long standing tradition on this board. The same person starts the Game Threads until the Sox lose.

Now after reading your usual drivel, it's obvious you didn't want to start the GT because you felt the Sox were going to lose. That's really sad. And you are really clueless.

I'm not the only one who called you out for either but I'm the one you attempt to belittle. Well it didn't work. You just don't get it. Way to "man up"

You're right about one thing......for a change. When I saw that Drew was going to be in that lineup Friday I said s*** on that, they have no chance. Why start a thread when you know it is futile. Now take today. I'm told Drew is finally going to be glued to the bench. I just might start the thread because we now have at least a 50-50 chance to win the game.

Fred, Drew was in the lineup for the 3 Minnesota games that you started the thread for and we won.

They have certain rules in this forum. One is that when you start a thread and the time wins you keep doing it until they lose.

The Red Sox are dead last in the AL in Slugging %, next to last in Runs and HRs. The Astros are ahead of them in each of those categories. Truly pathetic. Back up the truck, Ben. This group stinks. Payoff Drew and put Bogaerts back at SS. Why delay his development for a guy that is giving us nothing. Send down Nava. At a .297 OBP batting .207, he has zero major league skills. He just doesn't belong at the MLB level. Enough of Gomes against right handed pitching. He has taken about half of his ABs against righties, and his stats against righties are just about half of what they are against lefties. He is strictly a platoon guy. Get a Lefty to platoon with him. Get rid of Ross. A personal catcher on the 11th best team in the league is pointless and ridiculous. Let's see what Vasquez has. Get him up here. He can't do any worse than Ross with the bat. When I see Ross hit, he reminds me of fat old Bob Bailey in 1978 helplessly flailing away. Get Betts up and put him at 3rd. Send down Bradley, jr. and let him find himself in AAA. Put Holt in CF. This kid is athletic, and he may be the brightest spot of the season. The pitching is okay. They just need to sort out who stays in the rotation when Buch comes back. I'd consider trading Peavey if theycould get something of value like a left handed OF platoon type.

He can't sit pat with this group or there will be more torturous losses and boredom. Worse than the losing, this team is extremely boring to watch. They have me actually considering watching soccer and I deplore soccer.

I couldnt agree more with what you're saying. This isn't a well built team, and Ben needs to relize he didnt do a good job this off-season and see if he can fix it before there is no hope at all this year.

This squad has no power, no speed and no timely hitting ability. That's a recipe for the first choice in the draft, not defending a championship. I'm certain all of our grandmothers could have put together a better team than this.

I was right when I said that you didn't want to start it because you thought they'd lose. Fraud. Oh and as always, STFU about Drew you broken record. We get it.

I have to give Cherington some slack in that winning the WS has tied his hands somewhat. We arent supposed to be one of the top teams, we are supposed to be rebuilding. If we hadnt won we mightve fielded a more prospect heavy team, as it is though we're trying to be both a contending team and a rebuilding team and its not working.

I usually agree with my pal 700 Hitter on just about everything and do here with one or two exceptions. Nava is starting to hit finally. I think he was done dirt to when they tried making him a leadoff hitter this season, something I made clear early on if you all remember that he was totally unequipped for. Now that he is in the sixth or seventh spot he is starting to get some hits I also disagree with putting Betts at third and Holt in center. If that were to take place I actually believe knucklehead Farrell would actually bench Brock to see his pet Bradley in the lineup. No, put Betts in CF to give us some better hitting and a helluva lot more speed and get Bradley the hell out of Boston on the first plane, train, bus or rail. When WMB comes back put him on third and just go with him come what may. Hell, if the FO could endure Bradley for almost three months we can give Will a full shot at third. I believe if he stays healthy he will give us some needed power and some decent hitting with runners in scoring position. AND G ET DREW THE HELL OUT OF THE LINEUP and put Bogaerts back at third. For the record, he pretty much stopped hitting as soon as he was moved. He is 4 for his last 43 and I personally believe that a lot of that had to do with his move off of shortstop. Pay of Drew and get him the hell off the team where he never should have been in the first place.

STFU yourself and start acting like a lady---no wonder you can't hold on to a man. And the reason I singled you out tight draws was because the o thers were kidding me tongue and cheek about the game thread. I read vile, bile and sarcasm in what you wrote, and I will never start a thread when Drew is in the starting lineup. He doesn't belong in the lineup or on the team. He has caused a negative effect to the whole lineup and if you cannot see that you not only vile and bile, you're pretty stupid too.
