But a few bargains worked out last year (and many not so cheap players did not)--just check out the reliever situation. What's hurt this year is the hope that Bradley would replace Ells (drop off of .100 points in BA), and Nava's sudden and inexplicable inability to get on base or hit (replacing him with Sizemore is another dropoff of about .100 points in BA).

My skin is very thick, always has been. It has to be since I'm pretty much being the lone female poster out here. But when grown men whine and bitch and throw tantrums, it's very annoying to me. If you don't like my expressing my annoyance, maybe you should take another alleged 30 day hiatus. I know I'd welcome it.

 

I try to stay as positive as possible when the Red Sox are playing like this. I have always enjoyed my Talksox family through thick and thin. You would never know it's May or that the Red Sox are the 2013 WS Champs. Three WS in 10 years is incredible, especially since my first 30 plus years of fandom we hadn't won one.

 

I won't apologize for being happy OVERALL with the Red Sox.

Fred, you've been gone the better part of a month, and the first thing you do when coming back is flip out at every player on the team -- even the ones you adamantly thought we needed to stick with in the offseason. It is just a game, the Red Sox are only a few games back, and haven't hit their stride yet.

 

Ben and Jon know what they are doing -- they wouldn't have won multiple world serieses if they didn't. Take a deep breath and enjoy the season for better or worse.

I listen to Dan Patrick and El Rushbo Monday-Friday. I don't watch any news/opinion shows at all. I haven't for years. I still enjoy reading the newspaper from time to time.

Playoff teams from last year and teams with high expectations like the Cardinals, Rays, Pirates, Reds, Rangers, Angels, Nationals, and Dodgers are all with the Red Sox around .500. I am not sure I can remember a year like this. The Rockies, Marlins, and Brewers are all playing over their heads, but we should not expect the unexpected to continue. The Red Sox are a top level team and likely to improve.

All very true Spitball but the way I look at it those teams can take a trip to Mars and disappear....what do they mean to me? Only the Red Sox are worthy of my time and loyalty and now I find myself going back and forth.....to be start rebuilding and if so when........or do we continue on course and hope we pull what the (excuse the language) Dodgers did last summer and hope for a complete turnaround. I ask it because I've been going back and forth for the past few days on what should the team's course of action be. I will say that if things haven't come around by the end of June some serious consideration should be given to the future. We do have last year's WS Title and two more in the past decade to kind of tide us over until the new wave starts making noise.

I'm a fan that doesn't pretend to know what is best for the team. I don't. I rely on the GM and FO for that.

 

I remember when I SO wanted Edgar Renteria. How'd that work out? We all know, not well.

 

It's too early to say they are sunk for the season.

 

You can't win the WS every year.

 

I root for the players that we have. None of us have a choice, it's not our decision.

 

I would love to have Max Scherzer in our rotation one day.

 

The Tigers look great so far this season. They'll be tough for anyone to beat, so far.
