The Red Sox need to get into that Yankee bullpen early and often this series. Their closer tonight might end up being Matt Thornton, a guy who wasn't worthy of the Red Sox's playoff push.

Just a quick factoid:

Since 7/1/13, Koji Uehara has thrown 59 innings and allowed 2 Earned Runs and 2 walks.

Let that sink in for a few minutes.

That's a 0.31 ERA for essentially a full seasons worth of innings.

On average, if he threw complete games in every single start, he would allow 1 ER every 3 starts.

It's laughable.

Uehara is ridiculous. It's too bad he isn't younger; two decades of this would be nice.

Uehara had a chance to come to MLB back in 1999 or something. The Angels were very interested in him. I believe Koji didn't make the cut with any professional team in Japan.

Now many years later, he is dynamite. Has a sub 1 WHIP and the best K/BB in the history of MLB. Yes I would love it if he been with us for 20 years closing out games.

It would have been neat - but he was a starter then. It took a while for teams to start identifying what he did best. And even now, the Red Sox have gotten a phenomenal amount of luck given how serious the durability concerns where when they signed him.

Let's be thankful for what we have gotten so far from him.

He seems in very good shape. Maybe he can continue for a couple of more years?

Another jam packed night. I see that Thunder game mojo brought a win last night, so let's hope for the same tomorrow, my first road game. Another shirt and tie day at school tomorrow.

Clay needs to get back to his 2013 form. Now.

Oh, wow. I thought you were older than you are, Ted. No offense meant or anything, but I could have sworn you were in your 60s. I must have you confused with someone else. How old is ORS? I miss that guy.

I miss him too. I think he's around my age or younger.

NESN is all over the topic of Ellsbury in the pregame show.

AS IF!!!!!

Hey, I was a big fan of his and I don't blame him for grabbing all that stupid money in New York. But I am so over him leaving!!!

To me the big topic for tonight is how will Buch pitch?

I always assumed Ted was at least 132 years old. No one younger than a century should be able to approach such staggering levels of crotchety.

Yeah I miss him too.

Somehow when I joined TS I got the impression that ORS was in his late twenties or early thirties. I don't remember why.

People come and go on Talksox. Some nice people with good knowledge of baseball have left. What ever happened to Example1????
