CC out with a knee injury. Makes sense that he couldn't keep the ball down with a barking knee. Aceves to start. Later in the yr, Banuelos would be an option, but the injuries early are a problem. 3/5 of our opening day rotation is on the DL

It's been fun, it just hasn't been what we'd expect. Pineda likely will need a total of 6 weeks to return, so he should be back mid June. CC, hopefully, will improve with some rest, although he is still nothing more than an innings eater. I think Nuno is a lot better than we all thought, and Phelps is your prototypical #5. But we need Pineda to come back and dominate. Tanaka, Pineda, Kuroda is still a good top 3. CC eating innings as the #4 is good. Nuno or Phelps as the #5 is tolerable as well. We just need Pineda back

The fluid in CC's knee is gravy, an official report states.

That worked much better when he was fat. Actually, he worked much better when he was fat. I would love it if the Yankees just pumped him full of Krispy Kreme's and whoppers for 2 weeks and put on a solid 15 pounds

He's still fat in his heart. Literally.

Phelps, you f***ing moron. You have 2 outs and nobody on. Gomez comes to the dish, and you just hit him on the hand the prior inning. So you throw 4 straight out of the zone? How about you test the guy and see if he can swing?

Joe Girardi was HORRIBLY outmanaged in the past inning. He has a kid who has been playing with fire all start, and btw, it is his second start of the season extending from relief. He's up 3-2, a leadoff single for Murphy, and he f***ING let's Phelps hit. Of course, we get the bunt and don't score in the inning. Then, he starts the inning off with double barreled action in the pen, 2 hits in a row and boom, the pitcher is pulled. Now, instead of bringing in the righty reliever who would keep the rookie pinch hitter at the plate, he goes to the lefty who cannot get out righties. So, Milwaukee counters by pinch hitting for their rookie pinch hitter with their second best hitter, Lucroy. Thornton gives up the hit and the rest is history. Either you have to ride it out with your starter or pinch hit for him when the opportunity arises. Also, when you have a kid who has given you 5 and is being stretched out, and can hand the pen the lead, why not do it? This is dumb as f***. What a moron

Injuries and mediocrity is not fun, in my opinion.

It is only fun because the division is so mediocre. So long as we can tread water until our rotation returns, we should be alright. I also think we have a move or two coming. I honestly think the Yankees have something brewing with Stephen Drew, but don't want to give up their 2nd rounder while also adding a pick to the sox. Jeter is a great story and all, but he cannot play more than 3 times a week to allow us to be competitive. He is absolutely terrible in the field and doesn't have it offensively anymore

Matt Thornton is looking more and more like the curious signing I thought he was. His WHIP is 1.67 now. It was 1.76 with the Sox last year.

I would absolutely love to see the Yankees find a way to get Samardzija

Unless they trade Gary Sanchez, it's not happening. I'm not sure they have the chips even if they include Sanchez to be honest. Cubs are asking for the moon for him.

He seems like another great sell-high opportunity for the Cubs. Trade an unproven guy with good first half numbers and good stuff, no team control, get top prospects.

I don't know SFF. The Yankees have been damn lucky over the years to get some needed reinforcements and get away with not spending the store for them. I think the Cubs could get Sanchez and a middle talented player from New York and give up Samardzija. Whether the Cubs want to admit it nor not Wellington Castillo is not a long range answer for them behind the plate unless they want to keep adding to the years where they roam in the non World Series desert.

Come to think of it I think the Red Sox might try and make a move for the guy. Let's face it, Doubrant still has not shown he is a solid starter that can be relied on and Buchholz continues to frustrate the team and fans alike with his underachieving even though the guy has shown he has electric stuff on his better days.

He's unproven? He's been in the league for almost seven years, and this is his third year as a starter

He's unproven in the ace role that I am sure the Cubs will be trying to sell him as.

He is a NL pitcher with a 4.00 career ERA, who has pitched one/twoish full seasons as a starter. Now he suddenly is pitching like an ace, and the Cubs are trying to sell him as one.

If you were the Cubs, would you sell him as a #3? No, you'd sell him as the #1 he's pitching like right now.

Certainly -- that's why I called Sam a great sell-high opportunity a few posts back.

Ace is back and up to his old tricks. First 2 Mets faced - walk and 2-run HR. Also, the Yankees are wearing BP hats - blue with grey bills... Crazy, have never seen them wear anything but all blue in a game...

Gomes-----it is all immaterial. The Yankees with their fancy hats lost tonight to the Mets, and while I'm at it the Orioles lost to the Tigers. This is the kind of news I like to hear----and at last check the Rays were losing to the Mariners. Only the Jays won tonight out of our AL East rivals. I'll this a good evening. It could be even better if we can take care of the Twins this next series.

I am conflicted. On one hand, I despise the Yankees and all they stand for, as well as a good portion of their fanbase. On the other hand, during the Yankees game tonight, I had several tables full of Yankees fans and they all tipped really, really well. Great game, though.

Almost makes you feel bad about spitting in their food?
