As will, unsurprisingly, Fred.

Yes I will. Mea Culpa a thousand times User and if I have to eat a little s*** on this I will take my medicine. I had this all wrong. Remember, I said the Mariners and their GM were a bunch of bullshitters who talked a good game but couldn't put their money where there mouths were. Well, they came out firing and whether you believe this or not I am SSSSSSSOOOOOOOO glad I was wrong on this. To me the Yankees getting Ells and McCann and losing Cano, Pettitte and the great Mariano makes this off season now a minus for them. Still look for them to try and spend more money to make themselves relevant.

For what it's worth, the Mariners have released the following statement: “We are not able to confirm any news regarding Robinson Cano at this time. If and when an agreement is completed and finalized, we will announce.”

He retracts nothing.

******** mvp. That's only prejudice on your part towards me. If you didn't have your head in your pocket you would know that I ALWAYS admit when I was wrong. I already did on this one. So stuff your s*** in your ditty bag and at least try and be objective.

I was joking, Fred. Grow some thicker skin.

How great does Pedroia's deal look now?!

Cano leaving the Yankees is brilliant news for us, at least short term. As others pointed out, they have avoided overpaying in the latter years of his deal, but they'll miss his production in these next few coming years.

This is great. Cano and Granderson are gone, Cano gets a ton of years to play for a crappy team in a huge crappy stadium, and the Yankees throw a ton of money at Ellsbury who will probably be hurt at least once every other year. The Yankees will still be bad next year, and maybe longer.

Well MVP, I think you will see a much different Fred on here from here on in. That signing of Napoli made my day, and since you were joking you know how efen happy I am that Cano is gone from the MF Yankees and how glad I was that I was wrong. What I find hard to understand, though, is why some of my friends here think I was asking for the moon. All I wanted was for the Red Sox to resign Napoli. He is a RH power hitter who can protect Papi so he sees some good pitches, and he has turned into a damn good first baseman. Not to mention he is a consummate Red Soxer; wanted to stay and play here. Fact is, I have no other demands of our team. If we could get a decent outfielder to spell Bradley (and only if he really struggles), a decent utility infielder and if lucky, maybe a good starting pitcher, I'd say we are ready to take on all comers. Whether you think I'm full of it or not, I think we are now the favorites again to win the division, and at the same time with WMB, JBjr and Bradley in the lineup we now have three of our young players going forward who will soon be joined perhaps by Cecchini, Brentz, Renaudo, Owens, Vasquez and Swihart. Where the hell are those young Yankee prospects? We may just have them now totally by the balls.

All good BPEF, but let me throw you a curve on one thing. Personally in that ballpark, Cano, who can hit to all fields, may actually win a batting title or two. He may or may not hit as many home runs but for a guy who hits for high average that park may be tailor made for him.

Everybody wanted Napoli signed, including SFF, who was his biggest detractor because of the K's. The reason people called you out is because you wouldn't shut up about it. No offense.

LOL, I'm getting a kick reading the reactions from NY fans about Cano leaving.

Most of them are hating on Cano as he went for the money and is not a true Yankee LOL.

Cano has eclipsed the 200 HR mark at age 30 which is very rare for a second baseman. Putting it into perspective, he didn't crack 20 Homers in a season until the Yankees opened the new Stadium which is a complete joke in RF. Since the new stadium opened, he has put up years of 25, 29, 28, 33 and 27 homers. That is not a coincidence IMO.

Cano's split from home and away are pretty much identical.

And BTW, The RF distance is the same as the old stadium.

The RF porch in the new stadium extends further into RCF than the old stadium.

The difference is very minimal, not enough to change someone's power completely
10 or 11 feet is nothing to sneeze at in a power alley. 360 to RCF is a joke.

Cano has only hit 16 More HR at home VS on the road throughout his career

In fact, last year he hit 5 more on the road VS home.

You are using old and new stadium numbers combined. The argument is that the new stadium is joke. Even using your comparison, he hits 1 home run every 23 ABs at home and 1 for every 29 ABs on the road.

Prior to the new stadium he hit 1 less HR on the road than at home. In the new stadium, he has hit 15 more HRs at home.

Yeah, spread that out and he averages a whopping 3 HR more at home per year. So bassically his power is the same weather he plays at home or on the road

2012 the difference was 11. His HR rate per AB at home vs. on the Road is the difference between being a 20+ HR guy per year or not being 20+ HR guy per year. Also, let's not forget that he plays lots of games in other HR havens in the AL East-- e.g. Baltimore. His power production will be down playing for Seattle where his HR rate is 1 for every 38 ABs. His HR rate at the new Yankee Stadium is 1 HR per 19 ABs. That is significantly better than his career road record of 1 per 29 ABs. Edited by a700hitter

Essentially every player in the league (with notable exceptions) has much better power numbers at home than on the road, including some guys that play in notorious pitcher's parks. a700 is arguing for the sake of arguing here.

Okay, I give up. Cano will not miss that 362 foot RCF porch, and RF in the new ballpark is not a joke and all of those first row pop up HRs that the Yankees hit is just my imagination.

2013 was a fluke year in that Cano was just bout the only threat in the lineup. He walked more times at home than in any year in his career. The guy is a great hitter, and he would hit anywhere, but 362 feet in all of RF makes a lefty a bigger power threat.

If Ellsbury stays healthy in 2014, we will see what a mockery RF is at the Stadium.

We will find out.
I am just surprised to have found a Red Sox fan that doesn't think the new joint in the Bronx is a joke in RF. Maybe you don't watch a lot of Yankee games, but pop ups leave that place on a regular basis. 2013 was an aberration because the Yankees were rolling garbage out on the field night after night. They were so bad that a relic like Soriano completely revived them as a power threat, and he bats right handed.
