Which of those guys is a gold glove caliber LF?

He had 1 error playing left last season. He has a good arm. He will not win a gold glove as a bench player. He could potentially become a bench player in 2015. He has the entire 2014 season at Pawtucket to prove himself. Why are you making such a fuss about nothing.

Be nice, Hassan isn't "nothing." Someday he may be included as a PTBNL for a middle reliever!

Tom Brady's best stats are all based on wins. His 77.7% winning percentage is the best among all QBs in history by a huge margin... Montana is second with 71.3%. His 5 superbowls and 3 rings are impressive as well.

However, he doesn't match the sheer stats that Manning has produced, and many pre-passing era QBs may have performed better with the current NFL rules in place.

The argument comes down to... what is more important, wins or counting stats? Winning that argument is like winning an argument about politics.

Based on what? Give me just one sound argument for it and i'll be quick to concede.

Brady's head to head record against Manning is 10W's and 4L's. Manning's head to head record against Brady is 4W and 10L's.

His latest victory came against all odds. Wilfork, Kelly, Mayo injured. Von Miller was running around Nate Solder like he wasn't there. Miller hit Brady so hard from behind in the first quarter that it was amazing that he took another snap. Denver with Peyton Manning had a 24 - 0 lead because of 3 turnovers ... not one of the turnovers was Brady's fault. Who won the game in the end? This alone should relieve you of any doubt who is better.

That's not a sound argument. Palodios' is better.

If this is a QB league, it speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Brady is 17-7 in playoff games, and Manning is 9-11. Eight of the 12 times Manning has led his team into the postseason, his team lost its first game. And these are the same teams that he was making all his career stats with. He is not a winner.

The knock on Manning is that he played most of his career in a domed stadium with some very impressive receivers. Of course he is going to put up some big numbers when you do not have to deal with wind, rain and snow. Brady wins more ... end of story.

Yeah but wins are a team accomplishment. Manning would have probably done just as good if not better than Brady with BB as coach and the all-world D the Pats featured during Brady's heyday.

It's all about winning ... you know that. Come on man ... at the end of the day who cares what type of season Cabrera had ... he did not deliver a championship to Detroit.

Terry Bradshaw won more SB's... end of story.

It's all about the wins, right?

Bradshaw was pretty darn good playing on a very talented team. Bradshaw has the SB's but not the career win %.

Manning's teams were plenty good. Some players just perform better in the big games. Manning is a great player ... maybe the 2nd or 3rd best all time.

They didn't feature the best coach and some of the best D's in the league. Offense is pretty, but D wins the championships.

Didn't you just say in the post above that what matters is the Championship with your Cabrera analogy? Stop moving the goalposts.

It's the combination of many things. Career win % and play-off win % would be the first two criteria and SB win % would be my third.

Don't worry UN ... even professional football people have a hard time determining who is better ... Brady or Manning. Most will not give an answer the ones that do seem to be split. They realistically can be tied at #1.

Most football people put Montana #1, fyi.

Hearing Dexter Fowler's name on the block right now, with connections to some of the relievers for the Royals. Particularly to Tim Collins (LHP).

He'd be an intriguing guy to at least check in on, see what they'd want from the Sox. He'd give them some nice insurance out in the OF if Bradley wasn't ready.

you don't bring in a Dexter Fowler for insurance. He's a starting caliber CF and nothing he's done belies that notion.

I'd send JBJ the other way happily for Fowler, and so would most of this board I'd think. All the tools and a strong OBP, going to a park that strengthens his weakest attribute (batting average). Sign me up. Securing and extending Fowler would be a fair sized coup for Cherington.

I agree that Fowler is a starting CF.... but you're alone in the idea that he's worth JBJ. He only has one more year of control before hitting free agency, and also is pretty mediocre defensively.

Come on Bellhorn pay attention. Anyway word is that our FO is open to dealing Lackey, Peavy and Dempster this off season.

Should they deal Lackey we would have the following in 2013:

Lester

Buchholz

Peavy

Doubront

Workman

Dempster

They're not dealing Lackey. My sig line says how I really feel about most of this.
