If he completely clears waivers, and he keeps mouthing off, maybe the Phillies want to dump him. The Dodgers have some bullpen arms better served in AAA.

I don't see Papelbon getting moved, and especially not to the Sox.

The story of the 2013 Red Sox has been all about clubhouse atmosphere. Papelbon can be a bit of a punk, as his recent comments proved, even though he was a great fit when he was a Red Sox and as much as I would LOVE to see Boston add him I don't see it happening because of Pap's mouth.

EDIT: His mouth and SIX blown saves on the season

I think the problem would be that Pap won't be able to co-exist with the best closer in the majors. Uehara has proven too much to be delegated to setup duties.

The Dodgers just placed League on waivers. Anyone know how his arm is doing? After a rough start to the season, he had a very good July.

Luke Gregerson would be an interesting fit but I doubt he would make it to the Red Sox

True and true, if he did tho it be worth at least talking to SD about what they want.

I haven't heard much about David Ross recently, so I'd think the Sox would be in the market for a defensive type catcher. I mean no disrespect to Lavs but a solid all-around veteran catcher would look really good backing Salty up, if Ross isn't coming back in good time it might be time to make a move. I'm sure someone has a veteran catcher to waive.

If the Rays were willing to move Jose Molina he'd be perfect, but even if they'd move him I know it wouldn't be to us.

Here's a small list of pitchers that could potentially be moved in an August trade, from MLBTR:

Blue Jays: Darren Oliver (L)

Twins: Brian Duensing (L)

White Sox: Matt Lindstrom ®

Mariners: Oliver Perez (L)

Angels: Joe Blanton ®

Astros: Wesley Wright (L), Travis Blackley (L)

Phillies: Jonathan Papelbon ®

Mets: David Aardsma ®, Scott Atchison ®, Pedro Feliciano (L), LaTroy Hawkins ®

Marlins: Chad Qualls ®, Ryan Webb ®

Cubs: Kevin Gregg ®, Matt Guerrier ®, James Russell (L)

Brewers: John Axford ®, Burke Badenhop ®, Mike Gonzalez (L)

Padres: Huston Street ®, Tim Stauffer ®

Rockies: Matt Belisle ®, Manny Corpas ®, Wilton Lopez ®, Josh Outman (L), Rafael Betancourt ®

Giants: Javier Lopez (L)

Out of those listed, I'd probably be interested in Duensing and Lindstrom, with a guy like Street being a decent option as well. Seems we have a plethora of left handed relief as it sits right now, but Duensing has been pretty solid in the past and has the ability to go long as well, having started games before with the Twins. Not sure what it would take or even if the Sox would be interested, but he wouldn't be a bad BP addition I think.

Im hoping that Micheal Morse falls to us on the waiver wire and that the Sox puts a claim on him. Ive said all year that i would love to have him as our LFer. I know he has had a down year and will be a FA after this year so i say his asking price wont be outta this world.

Wouldn't be surprised if Aramis Ramirez gets through waivers. May be interesting, he's probably going to be coming off the DL soon, and would certainly provide some good RH pop if the Sox decide to go with a proven veteran at 3B.

I also wonder if he could transition over to 1B next season, since he's under contract for next year too.

Efen forget it Pal. League is a Major League choker par excellence!!!!!! He's got the deer in the headlight look every time he steps on the mound. I've seen him on TV out here blow one lead after another. He is s*** on a roll. Forget about it.

Rangers acquired Rios for a PTBNL or cash.

The player appears to be the Rangers 20th best prospect, who at least appears to have very good speed and defense. I think he's a middle infielder.
