I guess it's possible that the Pats will find a way to use him this year, at least a little bit, but I really believe this move was made almost exclusively for the future. Given McDaniel's history with him, that seems like the most likely scenario.

If you put Tebow in his offense, surrounded by the right players and the right coaches, he could be successful. In any other situation it's just not happening.

I think unlike the Jets, the Pats won't be stupid enough to carry him if he brings no value. He has zero value as a QB, and I dont think he longsnaps. Id rather carry the 5 RBs in camp than 3 QB's.

The Pats, if anything, can get him playing at a decent level.

He does have value as a QB, there's something to be said about mobile QBs, and Tebow is pretty much the best QB at running the ball since he plays just like a huge running back.

Still can't pass, but I had heard that his passing ability progressed when he was with McDaniels in Denver.

No f'n way.......If it comes down him Tebow or Ridley, Vereen, Bolden, Washington, Hoomanawanui or Garrett.......I cut Tebow any day of the week. Any one of those guys are more valuable than a 3rd string QB who can't throw.

Tebow didn't see a single snap in the third game to boot. Not a good sign for him.

Tim's mobility is a huge plus at the QB position. What he needs to improve on is his reads, when running the zone read, inverted veer, etc. He simply guesses far too often, rather than actually allowing the play to develop and making the proper read. He had the same issue at UF ... but that offense was just so talented that it didn't matter.

His future isn't with NE, but it's at least possible (even if the possibility is remote) that McDaniels would give him a shot when he gets his next head coaching gig, whenever that may be. By that time Dan Mullen should be out of a job ... maybe you just go for it, bring Mullen on, and go all in the with the Meyer/Mullen spread.

Tebow has a lot to offer that you're not giving him credit for, whether or not he stays with the Pats.

He can make plays.

What did he do with the Jets last year? They Jets were awful and couldn't find enough snaps for him. If they Pats view Brady #1 and Mallet #2, then when will he get on the field? The Patriot will NEVER take Tom Brady off the field in favor of Tebow, and it makes little sense to put him in the backfield since all of their RB's are better than him and the fact that he can't throw the ball. Hell, iI'd be willing to say that one of those RB's can throw the ball better than him. He will be on the field less, and make far less plays than any of those RB's.

He would be great on a team like the Jaguars or Chiefs.

You're comparing his running skills to the running skills of a running back when he's going to be lining up as a QB? That'd be like me comparing Riddley's throwing skills to Tebow's throwing skills because you continue recycle this talking point that Tebow can't throw. Buuuuut, you already did that for me.

I'd seriously like to see Riddley lead a team to the playoffs, and throw for 300 yards to beat the Steelers. Feel free to come up with any excuse you want for that, btw.

Oh, so you actually agree with me that he would be an asset to someone, whether or not it's with the Patriots. s***, for a second there I thought you were actually disagreeing with me.

McDaniels obviously wants Tebow to make the team, that's his guy. Tebow supposedly make a lot of progress when McDaniels was his coach in Denver, and after McD was gone, he wasn't really anyone's project after that.

If Tebow learns to make the right decisions and works on his mechanics, he could definitely be a good QB. Especially now with a league where everyone's moving in a mobile QB direction.

Some people are overly worked up about him being a potential 3rd string QB. There are way worse 3rd stringers out there. I don't see what the big deal is.

I agree, but until such time that he is out of the NFL for good, there will always be the media coverage and the manufactured controversy. I really don't understand it. How can a player this bad get so much press? The hysteria over him in his year with Denver was bordering on Tulip Mania proportions. Is it just the Jesus thing? Crazy.

He's Tim Tebow, one of the best college football players of all time. It has nothing to do with Jesus.

What I thought was so funny about it is ESPN was stroking it over what he was doing, and then it seemed like everyone on the internet posting on sports forums would just be the exact opposite. 45% completion rate, oh man he sucks, what a s***** QB he can't even find his guys wide open.

He was an efficient QB that year, I think he only threw a few INTs in all of the games he played. To me the anti-Tebow camp is just as outrageous as ESPN. He can in fact throw a football, he can in fact make a smart decision with the ball, and he did in fact win several games on a team that was pretty mediocre up to that point in the season.

I don't love Tim Tebow or anything, but he's done alright.

I agree completely. Last year, the Jets didn't give him a chance. What was the point of signing the man of you weren't going to use him?

Not to beat a dead horse, but I screamed that from the rooftops when they signed him. They had no business bringing that circus to town when Sanchez was already in a precarious position as the starter. Then to not even use Tebow compounded the stupidity.

Emmz, I will always love his playoff performance against Pittsburgh, but Tebow cannot succeed as a QB in this league. Either he becomes the utility infielder/jack of all trades or he leaves the game.

It wasn't a one performance thing, he performed well as a whole. He made enough plays to keep them in the games, and the defense was good enough to get him wins.

We'll see what he's got, I'd like to see the Patriots keep him.

That's predictable, the Pats just didn't need him but someone's definitely going to sign him, probably Jacksonville.
