They may have compelling evidence, but if the CBA requires a positive test, then they will all get off scott free. It is all based on the written word in the agreement. I don't know what the CBA says, but it will be interesting to see what it does. I am sure there will be all the standard pundits on ESPN talking about it in detail. I look forward to that analysis.

I'm sure having the s***/possession is ground for suspension.

Sounds like you have no idea if these players can be suspended or not. I'll see if I can dig something up.

In all fairness, name a better Red Sox player to come out of the farm in the last 5 years.

I don't quite understand what you mean in this post.

Correct. Without a positive drug test, can these players be suspended? That is the question. I don't know

One thing's for sure, MLB is pursuing this very zealously.

I wish they could just ban him for life and give us his salary back. Oh the things we could do with that $27.5 mil

I think Hank or Hal Steinbrenner agrees with you. Can't remember his name. Because he's no George.

Middlebrooks had almost 2x the WAR of Nava in any year. And Middlebrooks played 75 games.

I think they are pissed that Braun got away with it in the botched test. And they are probably sick of ARod's continued usage.

Here's what the current CBA has to say about cause for suspensions.

"A player who tests positive for a Performance Enhancing Substance, or otherwise violates the Program through the use or possession of a Performance Enhancing Substance, will be subject to the discipline set forth below.

1. First violation: 50-game suspension;

2. Second violation: 100-game suspension; and

3. Third violation: Permanent suspension from Major League and Minor League baseball..."

I think that makes it pretty clear that a positive test isn't needed for a suspension.

I know. They said that they needed more than the document. Now they have it. It is still going to be fought tooth and nail and players who had proxies purchase for them aren't going to have anything to worry about

The biggest problem for the players involved might be how the PA positions itself. In the past, the PA would have been all over MLB regardless of any element of right or wrong. At least that is what I think.

However the outcry from players that don't use and have not used has gotten pretty loud around PA headquarters from what I have read. I don't think the PA will turn out to be any kind of ally to the involved players this time around. If anything the PA might end up on the other side of the fence entirely.

Which makes it all the more interesting that ARod would actually allow this quack to come to his home. They also need to ensure this guy is a credible witness. If they can discredit him, then they're all free. If they cannot, then they're going to be in for a fight

This sounds like someone is scared about losing Cano for 50 games.

The PA has to represent them vigorously, they don't have a choice.

Two minutes ago, you didn't think players could be suspended without a positive test. I couldn't care less if you don't think players who had proxies purchase their drugs have anything to worry about.
