would someone tell Jacoby his Middlebrooks impersonations aren't funny.

Middlebrooks at least hits HR and many 2B, ellsbury is a groundball machine.

he's never able to do that his career.

This is nonsense. Going to left is all he did until pitchers started pounding him inside consistently. He did frequently in his monster 2011 too, as SFF said too.

Jacoby Grounball Machine Ellsbury

1 career HR to LF. He's not that type of hitter that uses the monster.

I'm not saying he needs to hit for power the other way. When he's lining balls over the shortstops head and into the left center gap, that's when he's going well, and that's why he was able to belt homeruns in 2011, because he was using the whole field and hitting XBH to LF

That's because he wasn't a power hitter up to that year, but he's always been able to spray the ball to left. You don't know what you're talking about in this instance.

He went oppo a ton in 2011

I vaguely remember Ellsbury going opposite field all the time in the 2007 playoffs. I thought that was what he specialized in, that awkwardly spinning cue shot the other way.

Maybe if we all tweet at the Red Sox FO to drop ellsbury in the order maybe something would work.

Spamming people on twitter works wonders, my friend got his flight refunded from Delta when they had a delay that caused him to miss his connecting flight on our Seattle vacation which left him stuck in Detroit. He just tweeted at them a bunch and one of their PR reps contacted him directly.

The moral of the story is, if something doesn't go your way, bitch and complain about it until it does.

The problem is that over his last seven games, Ellsbury has a .385 OBP. With Victorino down, and Farrell valuing speed at the top of the lineup, i don't think Jacoby's going anywhere.

Ells had that perfect Ells swing going for him much of 2011 and that is how he generated much of the power he exhibited that year. I do agree that he has sprayed the ball most of his career including 2011. When a good HR pitch met that perfect swing in 2011 it tended to find the seats.

His swing right now is a loooooong way from the swing he was sporting much of the 2011 season.

Man, Napoli is racking the Ks, as with most of the team.

That would be great if we were talking about pitchers.

Honestly I feel like for this game, and many other Sox losses, that while we lose the game by 1-2 runs, we leave the game feeling like we lost by 10.
