Ten f***ing years ago.

Do you even try?

He was an idiot then and proving himself to be an idiot now by running the Red Sox into the ground. A lot of fail had to go into putting together the worst record in almost 50 years. A lot of idiots have run the team in the last 50 years, but the 2012 team topped them all.

If you actually believe that, then you are one of the single stupidest people on the face of the earth. There's really nothing else than can be said.

I stated pure facts, and you come back with pure insults. Very typical for the forums biggest longest tenured troll.

Brush up on the definition of 'facts', please.

I would have written something more elaborate to tell you exactly why what you said was f***ing retarded, but all I ever get in response when I put you in your place that way is "troll ". Not really worth the effort.

Worst Red Sox record in almost 50 years with Henry at the helm. That's a fact. There wasn't one fact in your posts. That is par for the course.

But if you use the Red Sox record over the term of Henry's ownership, he becomes the best in 85 years. Depends on which frame of reference you choose.

I wasn't making a direct comparison to the owners that preceded the cuirrent owners. In fact, I acknowledged that the Sox had been run by many idiots prior to current ownership. If you couple the fact that we have been run by many idiots before John Henry with the fact that the 2012 team had the highest payroll in team history, it makes the accomplishment of finishing last with the worst record in almost 50 years even more ignominious.

Personally I don't consider John Henry an idiot. And I will give him a pass on 2012 as long as he shows commitment and smarts going forward.

Calling Henry an idiot and saying that he's running the team into the ground? Are those facts? No, they're biased, wildly off-base opinions slapped together by your debilitated, swiss-cheese brain. But, par for the course, right?

Under Henry's ownership, this team has had the most success it's had since the 1910s. The Red Sox are one of two teams in baseball with multiple world series titles in the new millennium. From 2002-2012, we have as good a track record as any team in the game not named the Yankees. Facts. Tell me, who exactly is responsible for all that?

One s***** season means nothing. The brass recognized the mistakes they had made, and shipped the problem children out of town. The vast majority of management groups would have stuck by these guys to the bitter end in an attempt to avoid admitting defeat. Instead, we were able to push the reset button much faster, and that speeds up the process of the getting the team back to where it needs to be. That's the exact opposite of running the franchise into the ground. There are going to be down years in between eras. It's unavoidable. I suggest you learn that.

You know, I don't know where the f*** you get the nerve to call an entire generation of people useless adults, when you spend your days banging away on your keyboard, frothing at the mouth about how incompetent the management of a f***ing sports team is, how the f***ing sky is falling because of them, and how you deserve better. You don't. Get your s*** together, because you're pathetic.

2012 did not happen in a vacuum. As I said earlier, a lot of fail culminated in the 2012 season. The three years plus leading up to 2012 were replete with one bad decision after another. The culmination of that was 2012. If you give them a pass on 2012, you are giving them a pass on everything leading up to it. I hope the FO is not as forgiving as you are.

No, 2012 didn't happen in a vacuum. But the 2011 team won 90 games, and the fewest wins in the 11 year ownership, outside of 211, has been 86.

What I meant was that I would give them a pass on 2012 *if* they do much better going forward.

It would be hard to do worse. Merely doing better will not be a complete vindication.

I don't know if people understand the magnitude of 2012's failure. It was not merely a bad year. In the 80 seasons since Tom Yawkey first purchased the Red Sox, they had a lower winning percentage in only 3 other seasons-- one being 1933 the first year Yawkey owned the team. 2012 was epic fail, not just a bad season.

I agree that it was epic and I understand the magnitude. But to me it's still just one season.

Apparently, this was not the year of the outspoken manager

Guillen and Valentine are both nutjobs. They should get a reality show together...'Ozzie and Bobby Go Job-Hunting'

The magnitude of the fail correctly suggests IMO that the Red Sox is a very sick organization with lots of problems. It is not as simple as the roster or the farm or the coaches or the GM or Lucchino. It is all of these obvious things plus more.

The farm is in better shape now. I just heard that we had 5 of the top 50 rated prospects in the latest ranking. Plus we have much higher draft picks than usual this year.

I will readily admit that skepticism is warranted with regard to the ability of Lucchino and Cherington to rebuild our roster. They have to prove it.

Guys the $pankees just got swept by the Tigers and are playing golf today. The Sox have a manager before Christmas. Spring training is one day closer. So you agree to disagree. Bottle the hate and save it for the $pankees.
