I think there is the possibility that V may well have outsmarted himself this time. Not saying he has made terrible in-game decisions but I can't say that I liked the intentional pass to load the bases there. Bring in somebody that can go after that guy. You have the lead in the game to that point.

What has happened to turn ML umps on their ear.....poor home plate decisions are one thing but it used to be that as the game wore on and you got into the later innings....the umps would be less inclined to squeeze the pitchers. Now it seems to me that they are all more inclined to squeeze the pitchers....theirs and ours. You may not be inclined to open up the strike zone but why squeeze the damned thing?

I love the sacrifice to move a guy into scoring position and hate it for moving a guy into better scoring position, particularly since the Sox are simply not good at this kind of baseball to begin with. The guy is not going to hit into a DP...let him hit for crying out loud.
