Kind of can't believe it's the ASB and this thread hasn't been started. Here's what we got for updates right now.

1. Ellsbury is supposed to start rehabbing in Ft Myers on Friday as a DH.

2. Crawford is in the Fort right now rehabbing. He had his 2nd game today, played LF, went 1-3 with a double.

3. Cherrington said, on XM Radio yesterday, that the club expects both Crawford and Ellsbury to be back by the All Star Break. I would assume this means they will both get at least in the Sunday Night game, but possibly also one of the Saturday games.

4. Andrew Bailey threw today. The next step is throwing (I assume pitching) from flat ground. After that, he should throw another bullpen session. He will likely need 9-10 innings, so he could be back right after the ASB.

I know that nobody gives a s*** about this but I wonder what happened with Jenks?

Hill is on DL, isn't he?

Hill is out for about 6 weeks starting about a week ago. He has tendonitis, I believe.

You are right: no one gives a s*** about Jenks.

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox are negotiating with reliever Bobby Jenks "on a contract settlement that will end his association with the team."

As of June 14th. God, I hope he doesn't get that 6 million for 2012.

It's funny how live works. This guy is making tons of money for nothing.

Jenks can burn in hell with lackey.... 2 of the dumbest acquisitions we've made

I have a hunch Lackey will came back strong next year. I think he was damaged goods from the start in Boston. The caveat is it usually takes more than a season to get to 100%.

Dice-K has come back sooner than I expected.

My whole thing with lackey is, he's had 1 season under a 3.45 era, and 1 season with more than 14 wins ( same season ) and we give the guy 82 million dollars?? And the angels had some pretty potent offensive teams during his tenure there, I could of won a handful of gms myself and I top out with a Timmy Wakefield type fastball!!

Anyways, I hope 'ol horse face himself reads this, gets depressed, has to go on Xanax and Valium to deal with his self-esteem, gets hooked on the drugs, graduates to opiates and then fails a few drug tests so we can get out of this contract..... Then maybe, just maybe when he cleans himself up, we give him a minor-league contract for the absolute minimum so I can go to Salem or Pawtucket and watch and heckle the s*** out of for pennies on the dollar for the rest of his horrible god-forsaken career.....then magically 1 day after 2 years of me giving him the business daily, I'm going to stop for a few days, let him think I gave up and then wham!! I'll catch him in the parking lot and , knock him down and rape him ( and no,, not for my pleasure ) but to let him know how it felt to be a red sox fan all these years and watch his ugly face sit in the dugout making millions while I sat in my living room feeling like I was mentally and physically being rammed in every orifice of my body...

That's what I think of John lackey

Edit: man he had a smoking hot wife though.... Kudos to that

Getting Ellsbury and Crawford back will be huge. The speed and defense they add will be HUGE additions.

Picture this......picture that they give us no difference offensively from Nava/Kalish/Sweeney. If they are exactly the same as those guys production wise, they are still improvements on the bases, small ball and defensively.

Morales in the rotation, Bailey back in the pen....and Melancon building confidence will round out the pitching staff.

If it comes down to Morales or Dice-K, trade Dice-K and eat some salary....or DFA him.

The Sox are working with Jenks on a buyout of his contract. He will never wear a Sox uniform again.

Ellsbury will be DH'ing and Crawford will be playing LF for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox tomorrow. Most of the games start at around noon eastern time, and you can follow those games here:

Just click League Scores, and then you'll have an option under the Red Sox game to click Play by play.

Also - Crawford made a long throw from LF to home plate today and said his elbow felt great. Very, very good news.

wrong thread dude

:dunno:

I feel pretty stupid now, went out for a smoke and I forgot I was in a different thread.. Whoops.

Another big thing about getting Crawbery back is we'd probably get some nice pieces for trading all the decent OF we acquired. I'm thinking a nice reliever or a decent pitching prospect.

I think our OF has a lot of decent spare parts, none of who can bring back much of anything in a trade.

Thus far, Crawford is 0-2 with a walk, Ellsbury is 1-2 with a walk and an RBI double in todays game.

Both Crawford and Ellsbury have K'd once. Season over.

I wonder how much time will take to Ells and CC to perform as expected. That will be key.

The key is that none of the injured players is an ace SP. These guys are not going to come into town on a white horse to save the day. Oh sure, we will score a few more runs, but last I checked scoring runs wasn't much of a problem, overall, for this team. We are second in runs scored in the AL. If we were rehabbing Halladay or Sabathia or Hernandez then I would be having much higher expectations for the team once the injured players return. Instead, we are still going to be left with the same mediocre heap of #3 SP that we have accumulated along with a few lower tier SP. I am not expecting any sea change in how this team plays.

I thought Elslbury's career was over when he got hurt because he's soft, and Yaz would have played through it.

And I thought Crawford's career was over last May when he had a slow start?

Guess you're right. Sucks that Buch's is now over ever since going to a charity event...

It's math.

If you score more runs, you pitching doesn't have to be as good. Not sure how that doesn't computer.

Just because they're scoring a lot of runs now doesn't mean they won't score even more runs later.

More runs = More wins. Just like if the SP allowed fewer runs, that would equate to less wins.

And by the way, over the past 2 months, the Sox pitchers have thrown to a 3.73 ERA, and the Sox hitters have averaged 5.00 Runs per Game.

The Red Sox are also 28-17 in their past 45 games. Thats .622 baseball, and a 101 win pace.

Do the Sox need another SP? Certainly. Can they make the PS with what they've got? Absolutely.

Lester has had a combination of throwing like s*** AND getting unlucky on the games where he throws well. Buchholz had a horrendous start but has really shined recently (3.23 ERA over his past 7 starts). They'll be fine. Let's relax.

Ugh. So stupid of him to go to the charity event and drink water after he lost a whole THREE POUNDS from being in the hospital. What a moron. Man, just throwing money away.

To be honest with you, I don't know how he's got the energy to open his eyes. He's gotta be fatigued and exhausted just from blinking all day.

Not only weren't their careers over, but because they are such pampered prisses, their sitting out and getting daily massages and therapy has kept the career of DMac alive and well, and they also helped extend Marlon Byrd's career. I'm grateful for that. Aren't you?

Edit: Yaz would have played, and those two bums would have had to pack their crap and go pump gas somewhere. No one should have to pay hard earned money to see either of those bums play.
