This has all the earmarkings of another 10-15 run game which is about what it takes for the Sox to win one these days. Ours chances are very good even with the one run deficit.

Well, you may be right, though Laffey's fastball (while not in the 90's) does have some late movement:

 

Aviles fought it off and hit it in a good spot (then stood on first for the rest of the inning)

Pedey got jammed.

Papi got it off the end of the bat.

Ross stood looking at strike 3 as Laffey painted the corner.

 

Late movement, even just a little, is tough to square up.

Are we watching the same game? Dice-K looks good. He wiggled out of the 1st, is working quickly, picked a runner off first and has a real good break on his off speed pitches. Looks fine to me.
