Great job by Morales. Kept his team in the game. Gonna be a challenge to get two more runs in two innings, but at least Gonzalez is out of there now. Its still possible to win this game by scoring five runs.

Mighty Mouth is obviously playing hurt. Trouble is' date=' he is hurting the team now. He should have been DL'd. That was a mistake. I would have forced him to the DL, no matter how much he objected, and brought up Ciriaco.[/quote']

Lou Merloni on his radio show a week ago predicted Pedroia would be hitting weak grounders because of his hand injury. He was right on. He agreed that Pedey should have been put on the DL.

You are right! She has nothing meaningful to offer.

Thank you. That means nothing coming from you!

I want to clarify something quickly before I head out to dinner. A pitcher can be dominant while not being terribly effective. Think back to Strasburg's first major league start. He was filthy that day. And I'd absolutely describe him as being dominant that game even though he gave up a couple of runs. Daisuke was certainly not *that* dominant today, but his off speed stuff was absolutely untouchable.

I'd attribute the "wildness in the zone" and catching too much of the plate with his heater to the fact that it's his first game back from TJ surgery and he doesn't have the command he needs to try and nibble like he is famous for doing.

Maybe "He had dominant stuff" is a better way to say it, though.

I agree. And I was surprised by his outing today. One bad inning. He used to kinda fold when he got into trouble. He hung in there. As always, time will tell.

I believe that he should have been DL'd before and I also believe that he will eventually land there anyway, either because he is hurting his team, or because he makes his injury much worse by trying to play through it.

I will let you usurp my true name' date=' gramps, as long as you heretofore refer to me as "grumps".[/quote']

Oh, he was dominant.

He gave up four runs in five innnings.

Seriously, there were some positives, but he gave up too many runs and put his team in a hole. You cannot do that against pitchers with sub 2.50ERAs

At alternate points this season so far, Buch looked like he might go down and spare the Sox pen from having to decide between its three LH pitchers. Then Buch turned it around and Bard became the guy that had to go down to get straightened out. If not for that, in order to make room if they wanted to try more arms currently in Pawtucket one of the LH relief pitchers would likely have been the choice. At this point, I am still not sure that I would value Morales over the other two cause Morales has seemingly only done well in these very low pressure situations. Still doing himself some good relative to the other two. I think it looks like V is avoiding bringing Franky into high pressure situations and if that is the case, that will play into the decision if it comes down to one of the three LH relief pitchers again.

I have none (that I know of). It was an affectionate "gramps" that was laid on me. Poopsie is another cute nickname people have generously bequeathed to me. Fortunately, I take these as humorous and not personally. Just like nicknaming Youk as f***you Kilis and Mighty Mouth for Pedroia.

What struck me about Merloni's prediction was that he described exactly Pedroia would do a the plate. So if Merloni knew it the Red Sox did also. So it begs the question why isn't he on the DL?

You don't have a dog.

I have 2. Mama wanted to go for a walk. The senior, Pedro, doesn't always want to go, but he came this time.

Cause that is not the way we do things around here:D:D

Thanks for the summary. Seems like he did ok besides that one inning.

All the innings count. Saying that is like saying that the fall off the skyscraper didn't hurt, it was the sudden stop at the bottom.

I know! It was a rhetorical question. The inmates run the asylum. That's one of the reasons they are in last place.

Well, we won't lose another game to the Jays. They lost today. Orioles and Phillies in extra innings.

Last chance for the Sox. Not gonna happen today.

Seriously, I put smilies at the end of my post on why Pedroia is not on the DL but in fact that is probably exactly why. He is Pedey and he wanted the shot and how is V going to argue with him after V got put in his place.

Unfortunately now Pedey is showing every possible issue you would have not wanted to see in what may in fact be his current condition. He is alternately pressing (which I did not think I saw much of till today), seemingly having issues of timing, and maybe even showing signs of a physical issue that at the end of the day looks like a timing issue.

His defense is great but if he wants to play every day they may have to drop him in the order.

He is hurting the team. Its not about Pedroia; its about whats best for the team. And right now, a healthy Pedroia is not possible. Bring up Ciriaco. He was very good in ST. Let Pedroia heal.
