I just got back on the board Ted so sorry to be late with my reply. Yes, I've been to Chicago three times----1998, 2008 and 2010. The first time was part of a baseball and history trip that I took while I still was teaching---Gettysburg, Cleveland, Notre Dame and Chicago. I saw the Cubs play four games that trip against the Cards and then the Giants. I wasn't a Red Sox fan at that time.

In 2008 I went as part of a Sport Travel Tour but didn't see the Red Sox and the same for 2010. I happen to believe that Fenway and Wrigley are the creme de la creme of baseball venues. You can keep all thos anticeptic state of the art places t hat remind me more of a museum than a baseball park. Those two are to me what baseball is all about, and it brings me back to my early years living in Queens when my dad would take me to Ebbets Field to see the real Dodgers. You know all about that from your dad.

I know I've gotten very hot on this board the last week or so but the Red Sox are really trying to ruin my fun with their crappy play. I'm sure you and others are in the same boat. I believe the time has to come very soon when we decide to start putting some of our younger players in the lineup and start the rebuilding process. We not only need new blood, we need a new attitude.

I've been to Chicago only twice. It's a great city. I dobn't know if you eat red meat, but if you do enjoy it, you need to go to Lawry's Prime Rib. It is the best Prime Rib of anyplace that I have patronized, and I have been to all the top steak houses. If you go, I would recommend the Meat and Potato Martini. It is made with potato based vodka and olives stuffed with prime rib and horseradish. It's a unique and tasty drink.

Ted---my wife tells me to break down and eat a steak during my time in Chicago. I know they have the best ones in the country but I don't eat red meat more than twice a year--our anniversary and Linda's birthday--but will have one next weekend. I'm a seafood and pasta man all the way. Tell you what I would like more, though. I would like the Red Sox to win two games in my stay in Chi Town---and three would be better.

As each got older, they had iron deficiencies and other deficiencies. Therir doctors recommended that they eat more red meat. Your wife might be right. If you break down and go for the prime rib, I highly recommend that place.

Thanks Ted!! You talked me into it but I will pass the prime rib for a strip steak, my favorite. Tell me that place again, ok? Maybe the Red Sox needs to eat better as well. They look to me like they lack iron, will, guts and balls.

If Prime Rib isn't your thing, there's Mortons of Chicago.

Ted, when I next come to New York we have to meet up and have dinner, go to a Mets game or just hang out for the evening. I'm convinced I have a very good new friend on this board. Thanks again.

Give me a week or so notice to let me know when you are coming.

I will Ted. I am planning on coming in September, whether it is early in the month or later but I'll be sure to come when the Mets are home. I'll keep you informed. I'll send you a PM in a month or so to give you any new info. Looking forward to that trip more than my sojourn to Chicago where I may actually have a bag over my head watching our pathetic team in action this weekend.

DANIEL BARD CONVERTED BACK TO RELIEF

His first start in Pawtucket went horribly. He allowed 3 runs in the first inning and was pulled. He returned tonight, and threw 1 inning where he allowed 1ER on 1 walk, 1 hit and 2K's.

He's still averaging only 94MPH.

Why don't they just shut him down 2 weeks?

He's been Joba'd. I'd shut him down, MRI the shoulder and see what happens. While he is still throwing hard, he isnt throwing where he should and something is wrong. Maybe it is mechanical or physicial or mental. But a break might help all 3

The Pawsox are doing pretty well on their own--they don't need Red Sox problems.

93 doesn't cut it. He's got to be 97 to be effective in the bullpen at setup or closing.

He needs to throw 1 inning at 97--not 2 innings at 93.

Bard pitched 2 scoreless innings tonight--the 7th and 8th innings-- with 2 hits' date=' 2 walks and 2 k's.[/quote']

Must be looking at another boxscore, I see no walks here.

The guy should be in the pen period!!!Obviously this team didnt learn from what the yankees did to Joba.

I don't think that even the FO can deny that now. He is being asked to throw only 1-2 innings at a time. Sounds like a reliever to me. The question is not SP vs RP. Its RP vs oblivion.

Bard is still all screwed up. He blew a save last night. Here is his line since he has been at Pawtucket:

Bard has pitched in five games for Pawtucket, four in relief. His line: 7.1 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 2 HBP, 2 WP.

K's and BB's look a little better at least...

Still being misused. He pitch 2 inning every outing. Only once every 3-4 days. WTF. Get him to throw 1 inning and pitch again the next day.
