If there ever was a time to squeeze it was this.

How much longer is this absurd experiment going to continue. Just plain stupid. I thought Bard would be busting his butt to do well today because his job is on the line, hopefully. But he doesn't have it. This experiment is going to cost us a lot of wins and potentially, the playoffs.

Nick Johnson... what a joke!! I hope this his his last start. I have had enough of this guy. Tell Oswalt to put on a suit and get a plan to Fenway.

He has been mediocore at his best' date=' and pretty lousy 3 out of the last 5 seasons he played. Look it up. He is also 36, coming off a season which he didn't play at all.[/quote']

He has a career .342 OBP. He hasn't had an OBP under .340 since 2008. He was injured, and had a .340 OBP in the minors in 2011. And now he's had a .371 OBP in the minors this year for the PawSox.

You're advocating putting Aviles, who has a .306 OBP, in the lead off over a guy who has had a .347 OBP over his last 2 MLB seasons.

He can, apparently. He can also field. But he cannot hit the baseball.

He was hitting .203 in AAA ball for the Phillies before we stole him.

Still, he's probably as good a pinch runner as you're going to find out there if you really need someone who can fly in a big situation. He's always been a great base runner, and not much else.

Squeeze with the bases loaded?? Are you serious???

Pods is a good bunter, I'd ask him to take a couple and if he's ahead squeeze.

Valentine used him as a pinch HITTER last night with Nava on first, one out, in a 2-1 game. Why not pinch run him there and let Byrd try to hit him in? I think that was a tactical mistake by Valentine.

Not with Youkilis on third base. He is slower than molasses.

We already tried Cook against the Orioles. It wasn't so good.

He was great until he got injured. After the game he said he couldn't feel his leg. If he pitches 5th we wouldn't have much to lose and Bard would really make that bullpen works. Even if the FO signs Oswalt it would take him a while to be ready.

90-91......s*** maybe his elbow is giving away.
Well if he has hurt himself, congrats to the Red Sox on ruining a perfectly fin reliever. They saw hoe=w the Yanks ruined Joba and Hughes, but somehow hey thought the conversion would work well for them.
